I must concur in your analysis. "UFO" doesn't always mean "extraterrestrials." Sometimes it just means "shit we see in the sky and can't identify," which is precisely what this appears to have been.

Given enough time, I've no doubt there will actually be a rational explanation.

I thought to myself that if that was a big jet, it's got one HELL of a climb angle, considering the military has stated it knows nothing about it.

17. The Pentagon's official statement is that it was a jet.

However nothing was picked up on radar by Norad. If it was indeed a jet, seems to me the FAA should be able to confirm if a plane was in the air in that location during that time.
