He calls AIDS a form of "justice" for homosexuals and wants retired pedophile priests to go unpunished. He says women who have an abortion will be greeted in the afterlife by their unborn child crying "Momma!"

Archbishop Andre Leonard, 70, was plucked from a sleepy Belgian citadel-town by Pope Benedict XVI in January to energize the country's Roman Catholic faithful and reverse 30 years of liberalism. The appointment was in line with Benedict's policy of putting tradition-minded and conservative bishops in important dioceses.

But since taking office, Leonard's hardline views have added turmoil to a church already mired in an abuse scandal. And, privately, some Vatican officials are expressing concern about an ever-worsening public relations disaster.

The controversy turned into a very public revolt last week when his spokesman resigned, saying he could no longer morally defend Leonard.

Well the info on the pedophile priests was not out yet. (And in my parish the fact that the kid I knew who was probably abused went on to die in the Vietnam war. How convenient that the pastor committing that abuse also supported the War.)

But it was plain as the pimples on my teenaged face that the Catholic Church suppressed women, and a huge internal faction supported the war.

It still ruins my day when I have to listen to "ecclesiastical" barf like this.

....I was born into. My hope is he will be greeted in his afterlife by a true biblical Jesus with tears in his eyes, who will with regret consign him to Hell. My Jesus would tell him his job was to be a shepherd and never a judge. My Jesus would tell him he was esteemed and lifted in his life and used it cheaply to judge the creators more different people. And that his job was to love and nurture all "HIS" creation, not the larger percentage the Bishop liked...
