Local news personalities. WTF?
If it's the female, nine times out of ten they need the following qualifications:

1. Great Hair.
2. No weight issues. (read thin)
3. Large chest.
4. Great eyes.

No other qualifications seem to be needed in many markets and there are exceptions to the rule, but it seems that they get so many vapid and clueless people sitting behind their "news" desks that it makes my head want to explode.

If it's the male, the bar isn't lower. It's non-existent. The male needs:

1. A Baritone voice, the ability to banter with blonds and being related to the station owner.

Sorry for the mini-rant, but I'm just sick of seeing this wherever I go.

1. I hate the local news
What do they call it? Animals birthdays at the zoo, how to shop for a flat screen TV, fires, etc.

2. Hey, one of our local stations is known for picking the
(most qualified) female news readers around, leave them alone.

4. You're 100% right. The news in my area uses the bimbo-dunce combo too.
I stopped watching the local news years ago. Every night is identical. Two shootings, a robbery, a fire and at the end the bimbo woman and the dunce man laugh, smile at the camera, and sign off. They could air a show from five years ago and I wouldn't be able to tell the difference. Hell, they could loop one program over and over again and I doubt if most people would realize they were watching the same crap over and over again.

In Briton, news 'anchors' are called news 'readers' because that's all they do. Any damned person who could read could do their jobs.

5. In at least 90 percent of cases, the male also needs:
2. A toupee. It doesn't matter how easy it is to spot. There just needs to be some kind of bird's nest perched up there.

8. It seems the new requirement is that they are crazy right-wing nuts as well
Our FOX affiliate in the Twin Cities used to be very different than the national FOX network and was in fact the most fair news outlet in town, they were the only station in the Twin Cities that reported on police brutality during the Republican National Convention and gave positive coverage to the activists in the streets.

Recently however they hired Heidi Collins and their newscast suddenly resembles the Glenn Beck show. Watch the video in the link below, it is the most stupid interview I have ever seen. For those outside Minnesota the man being interviewed is Mark Ritchie, the same Secretary of State who received very high markings for his non-partisan handling of the Franken vs. Coleman recount. Mark Ritchie is the most honorable state-wide elected official in Minnesota, but the wingnuts hate him of course because he didn't break the law by stopping the recount and handing the election to Coleman. Heidi Collins shows in this interview that she represents the dumbest of the dumb wingnuts who does not even know the role of the Secretary of State.

9. That woman is right next door to rabid!
I'm still trying to clear my head after that attack. I hope she is short lived on that station.
