Need help DU
Can someone help me with a response. I posted a copy of an article from Crooks and Liars regarding a chart Rachel Maddow showed last night on her show. Really I just wanted to show the chart but this was the best I could find to show it. I posted in on FB and a friend of a friend (who is a real racist person by the tone of many of her remarks) post this response to my friends response. I want to really nail her and am in a hurry to pick up my spouse. Also I would love to really sock it to her. Can anyone help me?

Here is her response to the article

First, Neither Crooks and Liars nor Washington Post can be considered objective sources. Washington Post leans very far to the left. And, Crooks and Liars…well, their name says it all.

Second, One can prove anything they want to, even exact opposites, with numbers and statistics, so their numbers mean nothing.

Third, While they whine about the wealthy getting tax cuts, who do they think is creating their jobs? It’s all well and good to suggest that we stick it to the wealthy, but which individuals would they like to place out of work so that we can do so?

Fourth, while they are claiming that tax cuts to those who create jobs are adding to the deficit, are they paying any attention to how much all the wasteful spending in Washington is adding to the deficit? Have they looked at even a fraction of the waste in just Obamacare alone, let alone all the other crap passed in the last two years? Bill Gate’s tax deductions pale in comparison.

Finally, I love the comments that blame Bush for our economic mess. Joe Biden first became a U.S. Senator when I was only one and half years old. Pelosi and Reid first occupied their seats in 1987. I think that is long enough for them to accept some responsibility for the condition our country is in. Obama was elected to the U.S. Senate in 2004. So, all of four of those guys were part of the Congress that is responsible for each and every bill signed by Bush in his last four years, the first three for all eight years. Each of those guys were part of the Congress that failed to pass legislation to correct our course.

For the last two years of Bush’s second term, Democrats were in full control of what legislation was passed and what wasn’t. Bush couldn’t sign it if they didn’t pass it. Each of those guys is part of the Congress that ignored Bush when he warned them more than a dozen separate times that they needed to address the matter or we would face disaster. Barney Frank and Co. even mocked Bush for his warnings. Democrats have now been in control for four years…a full presidential term. It’s time to stop pointing fingers and start accepting responsibility for the roles they played in this disaster. Stop pointing fingers. Stop spending. Start fixing.

1. Conservatives are pathological liars. She doesn't believe what's she's saying.

She's just pretending to believe it to get you to waste your time explaining it to her.

End the relationship. Talking to evil people only brings you down.

3. With the money that the wealthy have stockpiled, we should be awash with jobs.
The wealthy don't create jobs. Their customers do.

4. Someone who thinks that numbers and statistics mean nothing is unable to discredit them...
Their argument falls flat. You can throw all the facts at this person to your heart's content, but they'll just say they mean nothing or that the source is lefty or whatever.

I would let the person know that it's awfully funny at how quiet they were when bush was driving our country into a ditch.

6. Just ask her 'what jobs' were created by the Bush tax cuts?
Edited on Wed Nov-10-10 07:14 PM by sabrina 1
Since those cuts were implemented there has been a steady decline in workers' pay and in jobs.

There is some information here http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=389x9321601 on exactly what those cuts did to this economy. But your friend would have to be willing to actually read, look at statistics and take a look at some charts.

Anyhow, the linked article in the OP is a very thorough look at what exactly those cuts have cost the American people, and what they have contributed to the deficit.

Hope it helps, but reading her diatribe, it's unlikely. She is thoroughly indoctrinated and would need intervention and deprogramming rather than just some facts to look at.

Good luck.

7. Lots of stuff there.
First, where does she get her news? Fixed News? Does she consider them to be "fair & balanced"?

Skipping to third, it's been 10 years since Bush's tax cuts have been in effect & it's clear that the theory of the tax cuts creating jobs has been proven false.

Fourth, the bad economy is the result of the high cost of war, during which Bush introduced the tax cuts. In addition, outsourcing of jobs overseas has reduced employment significantly.

Again, where is she getting her news? ;)

9. whoever posted that has no grip on reality, don't bother arguing
anyone who thinks that you can prove anything you want with numbers and then go on to argue about wasteful spending is nuts. That person is now depending on numbers that he/she have already declared unreliable.
