Not looking good for Murkowski
Acording to local radio, many if not most write-ins are mispelled and bubbles are not filled in..Miller is doing a lot of crowing at the moment..Could change as they have just begun counting, today being the first day, but if it continues on like it has so far today Miller is likely to be the next Senator from Alaska..

2. Anchorage Daily News disagrees
http://community.adn.com/adn/node/154249

Update, 1:46 p.m. (5:46 p.m. ET)

The first batch of numbers is out and they show 89 percent of the write-ins counted so far were perfect for Lisa Murkowski.

Out of 7,638 write-ins counted just 67 wrote in someone other than Murkowski.

The Division of Elections says 6,804 votes were unchallenged for Murkowski, representing 89.08 percent of ballots counted.

Another 678 of the ballots were challenged but the challenge was overruled by the Division. Those are considered to be "challenged but counted," and will be reviewed in the expected recount with the courts having the final say.

11. Amazing how the stories differ
anyway what you show is a ten percent challenge rate. One hundred thousand votes to be tallied and Lisa is ahead by about 11,000 votes. ten percent of a hundred thousand is ten thousand. Pretty close if you ask me.. I wonder why our local station would put out something as bogus as what you show?

15. I did some quick math and if she gets 89% of the 41% of the write ins, she gets 36.5% of the vote
Enough to win.

3. Thats not what I have heard on CNN. Only a fraction of the Murkowski write in's are being thrown out
not enough to keep her out.

4. In one way, I almost would like to see a Miller victory over Murkowski
Edited on Wed Nov-10-10 07:17 PM by Blue_In_AK
just for the simple fact that I think he will be easier to vote out next time than she would be. I have a feeling that if Murkowski pulls this off, she will be our senator until she dies, and since she's younger than me, that means she'd be senator for the rest of my days. I really don't care much for that thought.

12. Well, in fairness, I can see his point.
Someone writing "Mercowsky" or "Mircawschy" obviously meant the vote to go to "Miller". Plain as the nose on your face people!

I thought a judge decided *against* Miller, suggesting that voter intent matters more than correct spelling.

14. If Miller wins,
that's just one more teabagger who won't compromise with the repubs anymore than the Dems. I'm waiting for a fist fight to break out in congress one day. Keep those cameras rolling.
