Political Mutual Assured Destruction - Why are we asking for escalation instead of disarmament??
There is another post on DU right now about David Brock forming a left leaning outside group to counter some of the outside groups on the right. If the right can have such groups, then I **ABSOLUTELY** applaud this development.

That, however, is background. In the same post, there is mention of Obama calling for such groups to be formed on the left. Again, if the right can have such groups, then this, too, I applaud. **LOUDLY**

But wait a second. How many millions will we spend electing our next president? Last cycle, if memory serves, we were near or even over a billion.

That's just insane.

Can we opt, instead, to limit campaign spending? Can we have the government finance it? Not the weak attempts of the past. How about the Democrats start this while they still can? How about the white house get behind it?

It is beyond insane to allow this war to escalate. We need to elect people based on ideas, not hideously expensive, bought and paid for words.
