Pierce Arrow & social upheaval
Pierce Arrow was an american car manufacturer that stopped making cars around 1938. The company made a very fine product. Hand made cars with lots of power and luxury. Their advertising usually showed some finely dressed lady stepping out of a Pierce Arrow with her chauffeur holding the door open.

With the depression, so went the wealth and the mood of the people. But Pierce was slow to notice, and kept up with the slick ads showing the upper crust enjoying the tennis club. From a book I read about the company, it became a problem that people started throwing rocks and bricks at Pierce Arrows because there was a class war happening, and they chose which class they wanted to serve.

I'm not suggesting anything here. Or am I?

1. A friend of mine, in my youth, had a dad who was a bootleger during the Prohibition era..
He brought the old Pierce Arrow up to my house one day in the early 40s. My dad saw the car and said "Oh my God, I worked on that machine when I had my car repair business."

Lots of people made good money on the Canadian border during the Prohibition days.
