Veterans eat free tomorrow at several restaurants...
Here's a partial list. Check your local area for deals too.

Thank you for your service. :patriot:

1. Screw 'em.
I'm not gonna dig out a DD214 and drag it into a restaurant to beg for a free meal on Veterans Day. I find something totally demeaning about that whole idea.

3. I don't even know where my DD214 is. Last time I seen it was 1960.

5. It's real easy to get another one...
I had to send off for mine after losing it.

8. Most of these places accept your VA identification card
or active duty ID.

13. Applebee's, for one, won't press it if you don't have vet I.D.

And some restaurants will accept a photo of yourself in uniform.

7. Goddam pathetic that they get fed once a year.
I don't begrudge anyone anything. I was just reporting my personal reaction to the idea of having to prove I'm a vet in order to get a meal.

11. Kick, Rec. It's amazing that your informative OP drew the initial replies it did. Some folks have
some serious anger issues, apparently, and they seem to be working them out anonymously on a message board.

Thanks again for your OP.

17. Hear! Hear!
So some people don't want to go.

Fine.

But don't crap all over the OP. It's a very sweet gesture by those making the offers.

Hubby is embarrassed by people gushing all over him about being a vet. It isn't that he's ungrateful, he's very grateful but he doesn't feel like he's that big of a deal. He's proud of what he did and he's proud of the nation he did it for but he doesn't see himself as a hero.

I asked him about taking up one of these offers last year and he said he was glad the restaurants want to say thanks but he would pass.

several hours with Vets returning from Afghanistan at BWI. They are giving more than most know. K&R
