second term. To give in to the tax cuts without at least a debate, is a slap in the face to all his supporters. I still love the President and support him, but to not challenge the Republic Party reminds me of running from a bully in the schoolyard. Axlerod's revelation about caving in also makes me question all the close people around him: Axlerod, Jarrett, Gibbs and other advisors. I just knew that there would at least be rigorous debate. But to just fold. I cannot deal with that. I need to be talked down from the bridge, because I am about to jump to becoming an independent. Somehow, I think the President does not want to run again. Right now Pelosi and Weiner are only a few that I know who will go to a fight regardless of the size of the bully.

6. Agreed
And let's all remember that despite all the "crap" he has taken through this term, with more to come. He did ask for the job. If he didn't want it, he didn't need to run for office. So, while I understand it's a tough job, I fail to feel sorry for him. He's an adult, he made a decision.

2. I've had this opinion for quite a while. I mean why would he?
He's taken so much crap (and even though I love him I still disagree w/him on several issues) that any one in their right mind would take a pass. He was left with so much shit that I don't think ANYBODY could fix this horrible mess.:(

3. I don't know... for someone who's read a lot of Lincoln..

He should at least know that doing the right thing takes patience. I don't feel he's done the right thing, but rather has "slow, steady" and unrealistic methods to accomplish enough for the damage that's been done.

5. He'll run again
He'll probably win too, though if so it will likely be closer than last time. He's been dreaming about the presidency for a long time and like most highly-confident and ambitious people who finally make it to the top, he's finding that it's not all it's cracked up to be. But he's probably also thinking legacy already as well. After he leaves office, I'm sure he wants to be more or less respected, make huge piles of money, and become an important and revered figure in the Democratic party, a la Bill Clinton. Quitting could throw all of that into jeopardy and turn him into an LBJ but without the Civil Rights Act.

9. Honestly, people who won't vote for him don't deserve him. Perhaps they need a 2000-Nader lesson
before their mind becomes focused and they see reality.

It's a shame that we have to go through another Bush every so often to remind "progressive" critics, but if we have to, better get it over with sooner rather than later. I hope Obama runs, but his critics really don't deserve it.
