Why always cuts? Why can't the gov generate revenue?
The post below about off-shored employees not contributing to US economy. Why can't they be taxed to work for corporations based in the US?

3. I know, it's insane
There is this "no tax" mentality in this country that is obscene. There is no way to battle the media on this. Selfishness rules, even when those who won't be taxed more are working and screaming to preserve the selfishness of the mega rich.

The mentality of this brainwashed country is self-defeating on every level.

4. Every president and would-be president
must fear raising taxes in this country. It is merely a political ploy. We could get out of this eternal mess if only we would raise taxes. We could call it a Get Out of Mess tax. I don't mind paying taxes. Our country was built on taxes, and we do have representation. It's not always good representation (note: give republicans an inch and they will take a mile) but we need to bail ourselves out one way or another.

5. How about a lottery?

A fund raiser? Call it anything you like- republicans do. As long as selfish people think they have a chance of getting something for nothing, they'll take a chance. You know, I think the Democrats have been presenting their ideas in the wrong light. Present it to the opposition in a way that makes them think they are benefiting, and they'll go for it. Look what it's done for the Republicans and the ignorant masses lately.

19. Our founding fathers were rich white land-owning slave holders who didn't want to pay taxes.
230 years later - good to see we're reverting back to that tradition. :sarcasm:

7. It can, but that would mean doing something that would displease their corporate masters
We could raise the tax rate on the rich, close corporate tax loopholes, and tax loopholes for the rich and elite.

But the Democrats, like the 'Pugs, are loathe to displease their corporate masters.

9. The Reublicans simply believe they can cut the sixe of
government and get rid of unwanted programs if one
day we wake up and there is no longer enough reveneue
coming in to pay the programs. Starve the Beast.

Every election cut taxes and less and less money
goes in to government.

This is their plan --Ask Norquist.

Our Party conveniently competes for the same voters
as Republicans. More Affluent do not like to pay
taxes. There is no one giveing the argument other
than cutting taxes. Then half the country does not
vote on regular basis. It is then assumed the Republicans
have the right approach. Cut taxes and get rid of government.
Both parties feed at the Busniness Trough. They like Tax
Cuts.

10. But what are they gonna do with all the freaking money?
That's the part I don't get. At some point, they're not going to be able to come out of their gated communities to spend it. So it's not like they'll be able to show off all their overpriced stuff to each other. Is that why they need all the money? They don't get to take it with them when they die- do they? I've never known anyone that's passed on who has gotten out alive.

It's always been the one thing I can't wrap my mind around, why is the money so damn important?

18. Because there are so many of us "welfare chiselers" who are so easily gotten rid of.
I don't notice much in the way of resistance to the "cutbacks" *we* face... which will often result in death.
