Oh the things you see when you don't have a protest sign
(or, as my late mother-in-law used to say, when you don't have a gun) I work in DC on Pennsylvania Avenue between 21st and 22nd Streets. Every morning I walk from the Foggy Bottom metro to my building and on the way pass Washington Circle. This morning there was a small protest in the Circle - between 100 and 150 protesters who, I think, were protesting DADT. That is of course, not what I wanted to protest. Around the outside of the Circle a separate corridor had been set up for the Westboro Baptist Church counter-protesters. There were 3 of them that I saw with their "God Hates Fags" signs. I have very rarely wanted to do something violent to somebody as I did to them. When I got into the office, I mentioned the protest to my IT person - his suggestion was that we go up on the roof of our building and stone the Westies since it was Biblical. Sadly, there is a distinct lack of rocky material lying about the premises (not to mention that my throwing arm simply isn't good for half a block's distance), otherwise, I just might take him up on his proposal.

1. Honestly, I've had it up to here with their ilk.
They are murderers. They are the reason why so many kids are killing themselves, and adults as well. I'm utterly sick of their ilk. I want the beautiful people to stay and the ugly, hateful assholes to all check out. Why can't I be on that planet? But of course assholes rarely kill themselves - or if they do, they take a bunch of people with them.

2. There was a town that blocked the Westboro people from getting to a funeral
over a 1000 people showed up and took up all the parking places and stood and bodily blocked them from
getting to the funeral ... I thought it was excellent...

3. Your beef is not with them.
It is with those people that promote them and twist their minds to believe such things.
Do you think that if they had no media attention at all the other protesters would not be there?
Hate and anger feeds on itself and there is a ton of money to be made from it.
