How the game is played
The Deficit Commission issues a plan that seems untenable.

"Too much! Too fast! Too deep!" we yell.

The firestorm rages.

All seems in doubt.

Oh look, the GOP is unveiling their first budget after retaking the House of Representatives...

"Gosh! That deficit commission looks pretty reasonable," we mutter.

2. naw, they're not actually going to make any tough choices
They'll just kick the can down the road, again.
You can't cut non-military discretionary spending enough to make any difference in the 20 year outlook.
