The way people talk, you'd think it was a large percentage of people.

And don't forget, he's part cat.
But yes, you could borrow him
at any moment of the day or night.

But I'm a SINGLE childless person making over 200K a year. I'm in telecom and receive money from a trust that my father's parents left me each year.

8. I bet a lot of people checked your profile, my wife is from Bridgewater!
We live in Piscataway!

Depending on your age, you may know the family if you've been there a while, her father was a prominent surgeon who did his surgeries at Somerset Medical Center.

42. Only about 4 years
But I did have my cancer treatment last year at Somerset Med Center. My friend Dan's Uncle is on the board there or a VP or something.

Ha ha! My boyfriend lives in Piscataway - or as his native language is Italian: Piss The Cat Away. He's about three miles down the road from where you get on to route 18. DU is a small world!

I'm going to put feelers out in the NJ boards after the holidays to see if the NJ DUers want to get together. Even if its just meeting at a centrally located Starbucks/Dunkin Donuts to commiserate.

44. Small world, but I wouldn't want to paint it.
No one in the family works there anymore. My wife left to work in a pharmaceutical company. Her parents retired, my mother in law ran the same day unit and also brought over almost all of the Filipina nurses. Now she started a nursing school in Jackson. My sister in law did some time there for her residency also. So if I go to the hospital, which is too frequent, I get pretty good treatment. ;)

Not sure what kind of response you can realistically expect to a question like that....

43. See my response above
It really won't hurt any of us (it impacts singles making 200K) a year.

I'm all for removing the cuts. but when we do?

The better ignore effin Simpson and Bo'wels'. I'll be damned if that money is not going to be used to keep people shelter, heat, food, clothing, medical secure. My dad's father was a black man born in the deep South at the turn of the last century - who inherited his land from HIS grandfather. He also made hooch during prohibition – and he sent 10 kids to college at a time when a LOT of black children dropped out of school to help keep their families heads over water -as a result of that hooch and other business. He loved FDR – He voted for him. He could vote for him because he had personal wealth, and was actually feared in his community for his connections. He sometimes had to pay people to give him the test (in Talladega Alabama for a long long time they would challenge blacks with tests in foreign languages prior to voting) so he could cheat – and his brothers/cousins could cheat – and thus vote.

Sorry to be a little long winded here but my point is . . .

He worked hard to ensure his children, their children, and their children’s children (there are 33 of us) would have some level of protection that many many – of all races/religions/ethnicities don’t have. But he also made us get a 4 year degree (anything we wanted- education for education’s sake), perform 500 hours of service to others) and wait until we were 31 to begin to receive our trust money each year.

His point:
He wanted us to know what it’s like to work. I’ve flipped burgers at burger king and had people throw shoes at me when I worked in a shoe store. I’ve even worked in a car wash wiping down cars!
Give to others.
Serve others.
(He was a Baptist all of his life and I remember him saying this when we went down to Bama to visit) Look to the left of ya! To the right of ya! If you see another child of God suffering – do something to help and stop their suffering.

We also were taught to live under our means and pay cash. Case in point? I know analyst level folks at my work driving around in 2010 beemers. Me? 2006 Nissan Altima. These same little snots had Leonard Lance for Congress stickers on their cars. Dumb asses all the way around.

I cannot and will not ever understand someone else in my position being so selfish, cold, callous, and unwilling to give what they CAN give to team America. Yes – I said it. Team America.

And I don’t get people on the left who do not have my financial resources who think I need a break. Really? I need a break? :sarcasm: I understand it on the right – as they strike me as inherently selfish individuals. But if you *think* you are a liberal or a progressive and you *think* that money could NOT be put to better use giving a hand up to others who are old, infirmed, under age – or just flat out down on their luck in this rotten capitalist society? Shame on you. You! Off my Democratic Island.

I’ll get off my soap box now.

34. I didn't say "most" or a "high percentage"
just a lot. If there are 100,000 DUers, and 5% make more than 250k, then 5,000 DUers make more then 250k. That is a lot.

Secondly, the post was in response to an us vs. them poll...

27. Edward Mueller disciple
Inspired by the shining example of Edward Mueller (AKA Mr. Eight Eighty), I only make the occasional $1 bill.

The rest of it I have to earn.

I should have gotten a job in banking, where I could make millions without having to *earn* anything.

PSsst: Secret Service - this is a joke. This is sarcasm. This is not a legally binding confession to counterfeiting.
