Poll question: Will Congress enact the deficit commission recommendations?
From cutting Social Security & Medicare and raising the retirement age to cutting the top tax rate, I don't think there will be too much disagreement on DU about whether those are good ideas.

The real question is whether Congress will vote to enact the recommendations and whether Obama will sign it into law.

What's your prediction?

1. It will not pass as stated. What worries me is what the
compromise will be that the White House will support.

Neither house will go along with what the Cat Food people suggest but, IMHO, this is just another shot across the bow preparing us for some other "less horrendous" but ultimately more damaging proposal.

6. that's my feeling, but since so many are bought off, they might do it anyway
and if we vote them out, they will cry all the way to their higher paying jobs on K Street or as CEO's and do nothing corporate board members.

7. The final recommendations approved by 14 commission members will pass Congress and Obama will sign.

We won't know what those recommendations will be until December 1st at the earliest.

This initial proposal by the commission chairs is designed to soften us up to accept the December 1st proposals that won't be "as bad" for working people and the elderly.
