Czech Transport Minister Loses Driver’s License

The transportation minister for the Czech Republic has been banned from driving for six months and fined 5,000 Czech crowns (or $283) for driving with a fake license plate on his Maserati, The Associated Press reported.

The minister, Vit Barta, was caught with the phony plate in July — while returning from his wedding. A spokesman for the ministry, Tomas Dombrovsky, said Mr. Barta lost his original plate while driving on a dirt road.

According to the Czech News Agency, Mr. Barta has had his license for only two years.

Mr. Barta told the Czech television station Nova he would not appeal the matter.
