OK, here's my question. How did you benefit from the creation of the
deficit from 2000 to 2008?

If you benefited then I can accept your willingness to go along with paying it down by paying more taxes and getting less benefits in the future. If like me you lost wealth because of the actions of the prior administration and its supporting cast in Congress, why should you be willing to lower your future standard of living when those who benefited from the war spending and tax cuts keep their wealth in tact?

4. You mean like my "disappeared" retirement savings?
I never played the stock market. I invested in a few carefully researched stocks which paid nice dividends. Held them for years. No day trading, etc.. In the Bush economic meltdown, my companies managed to survive. They just stopped paying dividends. Now I am just getting by on an incredibly tight budget - and they're talking about reducing my SS and Medicare? Ya think this whole, ongoing mess has anything to do with my high blood pressure?

5. +1 and we're even more conservative investors
than you. There isn't anything paying any interest unless you have gonads of steel and money to risk.

6. It was a great redistribution scheme, wasn't it?
Run up debt on behalf of the rich and they pay it down at the expense of the poor.

Somehow the Tea Partiers never seem to notice that sort of redistribution.

7. Don't expect a real answer from those that are willing to support Obama and the ..............
probable compromise.

They're buying into the trickle-down theory of those making over $250k a year give us jobs, and that somehow jobs will dry up if they don't get those cuts.

It's complete and utter bullshit. Those tax breaks have been in place for ten years, and the more we lower taxes for the rich, the more we lose jobs to overseas markets.

8. Otherwise I would have lost my job, of course
Because only tax cuts create jobs. I would have become a cannibalistic poo-throwing wild creature that speaks only in grunts if it hadn't been for the national debt.
