Raising the retirement age is a fool’s game by any measure (Urb Surviv)
EXCERPT: http://www.urbansurvival.com/blog/

I guess we can begin with the retirement age point: Raising the retirement age is a fool’s game by any measure. Why? Because it will only prevent oldsters from leaving the workforce in large numbers – which in turn, if you can follow this, will prevent new job openings at the bottom of the skills ladder.

While Fearless Leader (and the corporate yes-men) were off selling grand further job-jacking visions to India, it was becoming clear here at home that globalists are really in the process of bringing UP the standard of living everywhere but HERE.

You notice that half the people in Jamaica are happy with their standard of living? ”Plenty rum, mon, and de finest agriculture in the Blue Hills.” Oh, and no central bank to speak of, no heating bills, and on and on… But I digress.

5. I've heard that it's almost set in stone...
That it will be 72 within 20 years. It just has to be gradually increased.

There were no riots in the streets (like France) when it was raised to 66, there will be no riots when it gets raised to 67, no riots at 68, etc.

Instead we'll just keep re-electing the same people who keep letting the age go up and the benefits go down.

8. Or the students in England rioting now over
increases in college tuition.

We are a nation of idiots. The more they shit on us, the better we like it. I'm disgusted with the people. Obama isn't the only one who needs to grow a pair as so many are fond of saying, we need to, also.

Back in the day we took to the streets.

4. I'm Sure those who work their asses off already will enjoy this the most
"Sorry buddy... looks like you are sweeping for another 5 years... hopefully you live long enough to retire!"

People don't give a damn unless it effects them. Most people are feected by this, but not the priviledged, that's for sure.

6. If our elected leaders had no pension to rely on, just social security...
You could retire at 60 and the benefits would be double.

Even a one term member of congress or the senate gets a nice comfy pension therefore no hurry or desire to protect SS for the rest of the nation.

9. I thought the same thing but, it was posted that only one
grrr. I forgot now, either the Senate or Congress gets the pension after one term and that it's not much. But, hell I'd take it. We, the schmucks who have to work must be vested and it's more than either one term in the Senate or the House.

7. SS was never intended to provide retirement for people who could still work.
When SS was initiated in 1934 most workers were men and they died by age 65. Today many women are in the work force and they live past 75. The idea that old people take jobs away from young people is a lot of BS. We should have jobs for everyone regardless of age.

10. There are jobs - low paying jobs
Those who take those jobs as a last resort are hired at under 40 hrs. per week thus, no benefits. My graddaugher works 2 jobs - 66 hours a week. No sick time, no vacation, no insurance. She's 20 and acts like a 40 year old. Always worried about making ends meet and managing her money. I let her to a point. Then I have to slip her a few bucks. HEY! it's my job ;)
