What I don't get with the tax cuts more than anything is why the administration won't even try
The democrats still control the legislation process in the house and the senate. If they don't pass new tax legislation obviously the Bush tax cuts expire and taxes go up for everyone. But they can still try to push through a middle class tax cut and force republicans to vote no on a tax cut for 98% of americans. Think of how great 2012 would be for them if they could run ads in every senate and house race about how the republicans voted against the largest middle class tax cut in history. You would think this is something that not even the democrats could fuck up.

Yet for some reason they won't even try. Right out the gate they want to have compromise legislation and then force a vote on that. Can anyone please explain this to me? I am honestly starting to believe that they want the tax cuts for the rich, they just don't want us to know that. Because none of their arguments on this make any sense.

3. There are two ways to reduce the deficit, reduce spending and increase taxes.
Increasing taxes on the rich will be much more effective than reducing spending. The rich own our politicians so it is much easier to reduce spending that helps Joe Sixpack. The rich are rich because they are smart and Joe Sixpack is poor because he is ignorant and votes Republican.

7. Reconciliation?
I know that the original Bush tax cuts were put into place using reconcilation (hence why they were temporary)

And one of the reasons the gOP is pushing so hard now is because if they allow just a middle class tax cut, they will have top go back later to fight for a cut just for the very wealthy.

So why not use reconcilliation to make a middle class tax cuts like the dems say they want? Even if temporary it would still be a good campaign issue and force the GOP to have to defend letting the super rich out of their obligations.
