How to Pass Social Security Cuts and Make It Seem Like a Democratic Victory:
Step 1: Appoint a "Deficit Commission" with Chairs just slightly to the Right of Simon Legree.

Step 2: Pass a law that guarantees a House vote if the Senate passes a bill on the Commission’s recommendations.

Step 3: Insure (via Citizen United ruling, a biased Corporate Media, etc. etc.) massive Republican gains in the legislature.

Step 4: Have the Chairman of the Deficit Commission announce their draconian positions. Have the new Republican leaders announce positions to the Right of this.

Step 5: When the full Deficit Commission reports findings somewhat to the Left of the Chairmen, applaud this as a good starting point for discussions.

Step 6: Have Harry Reid introduce hasty, “pre-emptive” legislation that incorporates most of the Commission’s findings with a few “Democratic” changes. Pass this in the lame-duck session.

Step 7: The House, thanks to Step 2, is now obliged to give this an up-or-down vote.

Step 8: The President signs the measure and declares victory compared to what the Republicans are proposing.

Step 9: Now that the heavy lifting is done, the President and the Republican Congress are free to engage in all manner of theater. Absurd legislation, vetoes, government shutdowns, hell, the sky’s the limit. Important thing is that upper income tax cuts are extended and Social Security it cut.

We’re at Step 4. Step 5 is a guarantee. Ball will be in Reid’s court.

5. And in a few years we lose every seat in Congress. The People
will only credit the President.

Now, Bill Clinton is blamed for all the bad things about
Nafta. It was Republican House and Senate who pushed
Free Trade. We lost Ohio completely this time. There
is no difference in parties on Free Trade. American
People know the trade policies have failed them but
there is not a dimes worth of difference between the
parties on this issue. They blame Clinton not Republicans.

The GOP are so clever and the Democrats so clueless.

Later on down the road when the people are in pain
they will blame Obama(He is the President) for SS and
Medicare cuts. Democrats will have killed FDRs Programs
not Democrats.

10. This is on top of the 500 billion the gov't will cut in Medicare/Medicaid over the next 10 years.

That's part of the health insurance industry legislation that some people prefer to ignore.
