We went to our local Applebees for dinner
They are doing a free meal for vets and active duty and we thought. why not?

Well the place was FULL of young active duty troops, Marines and Sailors chiefly. so we decided to skip the thank you and go for dinner across the road...

I got to thank Applebees for that. It offers these young active duty men and women a chance to eat OFF base and not cost them an arm and a leg.

And to the vets here... well you know, welcome home.

2. It was PACKED
we went, we should have gone to the OTHER one that didn't have those crowds. But then again... though hubby is retired Navy... we can afford the dinner. Most of the guys and gals were lower ranking enlisted.

5. Golden Coral is free to all vet's this Monday the 15
Applebees as far as I know was nation wide for all vet's today.... Golden Coral had it last year for vet's & ours was packed here, the line moved really fast so the wait was not long at all, just have to show DD214 or retired Military card, or some form of active service... Check out your local Golden Coral for Nov.15th.

8. It was a great thing Applebees did. We enjoyed the dinners and the company of fellow veterans.
A friend of mine knew I am a veteran and invited me to go to Applebees and we had a very nice meal, courtesy of Applebees. The staff was very friendly and the food was great. I saw veterans from WWII, the Korean War, Vietnam, Desert Storm and the Iraq & Afghanistan Wars. A lot of vets wore clothing from their time in the service and there were many active duty soldiers there too.

I felt like part of a large family, even though I didn't know any of the other veterans. It was a touching sight to see Veterans who went to battle for our country during the past 70 years. The restaurant was overflowing with vets and I felt honored to be among so many who sacrificed for their country.

That was a class act on Applebee's part.

It was a nice evening.
