Nothing about Obama's record so far indicates he's enough of a fiscal conservative, or enough of a fighter, to go to the wall on this. Since both parties have things they don't like, it might die a merciful death. As much as the deficit needs to get cut, the SS proposal alone makes it a bad deal in any form.

Then it's never heard from again.
