70 to 94% tax on the ultra-rich!

After all, they got us into this mess .

Our debt will be paid in under 10 years.

1. It was their party
and they benefitted from it - they should pay for it.

2. They sacrificed their lives, their prosperity and gave us the world we live in.
Unfortunately, for the self-absorbed right, it wasn't enough!

10. Not their prosperity. The 1950's saw an increase in Middle-Class prosperity.

3. Why do people insist on quoting the marginal tax rates of the past?
A marginal tax rate isn't really all that important. What is more important is the effective tax rate. When taxes were much higher, you could write off a lot more, so the effective tax rate was roughly comparable to today. As tax rates went down, the tax code was changed to allow less writeoffs, this way politicians could advertise bringing down the tax rate, while still collecting similar amounts of money.

4. The effective tax rates were around 50%, which--
