Framing the Debate: Question for Teabagger/Republicans--What sacrifices are the top 1%

(Rich-UltraRich)making to bring down the National Debt???

I mean the Teabagger/Republicans and their buddies the CatFood commission, are revving up a bloody
chainsaw for anything that helps the Middle Class, the Working Poor, those in Poverty, the disabled
and of course--SENIOR CITIZENS!!

We (the bottom 90%) are sacrificing, or will be asked/told to sacrifice in the following ways:

Proposed deep cuts to SOCIAL SECURITY (hurts low income seniors)

Proposed deep cuts to MEDICARE (hurts low income seniors)

Proposed ELIMINATION OF THE Mortgage Interest Deduction (hurts low income home buyers)

Proposed deep cuts to FOOD STAMP programs (hurts those in poverty and the working poor)

Proposed deep cuts or ELIMINATION OF UNEMPLOYMENT compensation.

(and probably lots more I can't remember...)

SO........ Ask your Teabagger/Republicans co-worker acquaintances. Exactly what are the top 1% -UltraRich, "SACRIFICING" to help eliminate the National Debt/and balancing the Budget, that we saw all those Mad Mad Mad -Angry Tea Party people ranting and raving about?

Why are they,(the top 1%), getting a huge Tax-payer financed GIVEAWAY( that, btw, will EXPLODE the National Debt!!) ,...instead of shouldering their chunk of the burden????????????

" Tent cities are illegal in Sacramento, but Lisa says that may change soon. "So many people are seeking out shelter because all of the homeless shelters are filled beyond capacity, that they're actually thinking about legalizing tent communities, and the city is actually thinking about providing services," she says. "Surprisingly, the community has been extremely sympathetic because so many people in Sacramento have gone into foreclosure. ... The shelters say that people have actually been donating more because the attitude is 'I'd rather spend money so that people can have shelter than buy new material stuff.'"


Update: Since this show originally aired in February 2009, the city of Sacramento dismantled this tent city, citing concerns over public health and safety. Sacramento Mayor Kevin Johnson promises to put $1 million toward finding beds and permanent housing for the displaced residents. In the meantime, looming budget cuts threaten to shut down three more shelters in Sacramento County during the summer of 2009. 4. Low income mortgage borrowers probably don't pay enough interest to itemize.

They probably use the standard deduction and get no breaks for their mortgage interest. Its the well off who bought a lot of house who benefit most from the mortgage deduction.

You have the "top" 1% and the "bottom" 90%; that's 91%.

7. unfortunately the framing of this is that we are taking money from the rich

and they should be able to keep their money. they call it a redistribution of the wealth taking it from the rich and giving it to the poor. now, nevermind that that is false. they seem to get away with framing that way. but they are going to be spending money. who is going to pay for this stuff? WE ARE!! the rest of us. but they refuse to frame it in that way and the media goes along with it.

16. personally i think it's a load of shit. we all have to pay for the things we

seem to think are just a given. roads? bridges? safe cars to drive? safe food to eat? we all take these things for granted and then wonder like in the past several years we have had bridges collapsing, levvies breaking, tainted spinach etc. deregulation and not funding things or having enough people to do the inspections. then we complain that the government is not working. we want all these things without having to pay for them. unfortunately WE will be paying for them. the only if involves the rich. should they be penalized for having money!!

Of course, any day now some of those promised "new green jobs" will be headed my way ... I'm sure... although I probably won't have an address for them to send the notification to...

Very, very sorry to hear about your job situation, although I'm sure that empathetic words are of little help. The economy is a clusterfuck unless you're in the carefully protected Banker Class.

It's time we recognize the wealthy for what they are . .. OUR BETTERS! We are but their humble servants.
