It's all a ploy to convince us that there is no choice but to compromise. The Dems don't want to alienate big money contributors is what this is all about. Even doing nothing is better than compromise--but leave it to the Dems to even screw that up.

1. That's the way I see it. |

Soften us up with an unspeakably outrageous proposal
& then we'll settle for a merely insanely outrageous proposal.

2. All we have to do is nothing. |

It IS a false choice between renewing them or losing middle class cuts forever. George Bush isn't the only one that can come up with a tax program.
I say we call the House on their bluff and let them come up with a tax plan that balances the budget and keeps everybody happy, since that's what they're running on. With a Dem president and Senate, whatever they come up with has to be better than basing our tax policy off of Bush's plan.

3. The Dems don't have to do a thing. the tax cuts for the rich expire Jan 1. |
|
After that, it's up to the repukes to justify cutting taxes on the rich. Which should go over like a lead balloon.
But alas, never underestimate the ability of our Dem congress people to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.
