Rachel Maddow should get Meet the Press.
She is an outstanding interviewer. She is very knowledgeable and does her homework. I really believe that she could do as well or even better than Russert and she's light years better than Gregory.

I think she would be incorruptible on Meet The Press or another Sunday show with that format. She would have to hold back her liberalness and I'm completely certain she can do it. Hopefully it happens for her.

1. I like your idead, but I kind of get the impression that only Washington whores get that job
The type that don't ask questions calling out the Republicans.

2. Russert wasn't a Washington "whore" when he got it.
And I remember him hammering politicians of all stripes. Some of us thought he gave "the other guys" too much leeway. Also remember with Russert, he came from Democratic politics.

3. i think she should have gotten that as well. i refuse to watch with that hack on there.
i was hoping that seeing their numbers go up when she is on would give them a clue, but i don't see that happening.

4. No thank you, she'd be too limited in that format
and she'd be expected to sit and nod sagely while two wingnuts and one tepid liberal hold forth, the wingnuts blathering and shouting down the tepid liberal. That's the format and has been since the 80s.

I'd rather have her where she is, able to pick out stories and do the research on them to flesh them out. She's a great educator, among other things, and her show format is exactly the one for her.

Having her anchor nightly broadcast news might be more appropriate in the long run. Press the Meat is simply the wrong place for her.

7. I prefer her in her current format.
It allows her to still be quirky and more of a voice for the left. She'd have to moderate her style to do MTP. It's really more about the guests than the host compared to her show.

8. Fully agree.
I don't want a toned down version of Rachel.

10. What would be the point? She can ask all the real questions she wants to...
but the lying and corrupt politicos will just lie, lie, lie and lie. Even worse, when war criminals proudly say they OK'd torture and would do it again, nothing is ever done about it anyway. Maddow is a sane voice in an insane and broken system, anyone with integrity stays as far away from the heinous political system as possible.
