Q: Mike, what is your favorite newspaper, and why?
Yours,
Amy

A: I no longer have a favorite newspaper in this country. I do read the New York Times each day, but it's a shell of its former self. Some of the McClatchy papers do a good job and papers like the Sacramento Bee, the Detroit Free Press and St. Petersburg Times used to be excellent local papers. I do like the local paper where I live, the Traverse City Record-Eagle. But most dailies have been so dumbed down they're pathetic. If you want to read a real paper that respects your intelligence, you have to look to the UK or other European countries.

.........

Q: Mike,
Do you support the decriminalization of Marijuana in our society? Do you think that could have positive effects on our Economy?

Thanks.

A: Yes. Our drug laws are hypocritical (our most abused drugs are the legal ones: alcohol and prescriptions) and often racist. These laws have locked up an obscene number of people and this must end. And marijuana laws are the dumbest. Although I've never tried, I hope to some day, when I get around to it.
