So here is the problem, what Beck is doing IS NO LONGER IN THE FRINGES, but quite mainstream.... I guess Antisemitism is now chic AGAIN. And I can count on Eric Cantor not condemning this unless he fears the loss of money... and if he does condemn it, I guess I will have to eat my hat.

Back in the day schools had Jew, Irish, and (at the risk of getting in trouble with a few here for the use of the language even when historically accurate), negro or colored quotas. Harmman mentioned a pretty believable story from his family at the time, as my mom's family did the same in London, his cousins.

You see Hartman applied to a school in the south and was rejected since they had their Jewish quota. He changed the last name to Hartmann and applied again... he was accepted. Ironically the Hartmanns are not Jewish.

With my mom's cousin they went from Sourasky to Sorsby to get accepted to Medical School.

Antisemitism was very much in the open in the US in the 1930s, very much so... and I have confronted a few of our modern day versions... knowing that one reason they got that loud... and dangerous, was a lack of confrontation... but we may reach the point where silence will be the safest route... and emigration.
