So Apparently I'm Late To The Party... GW's Mom Puts Her Miscarried Fetus In A Jar And...
makes W (at the age of 14 or less) drive her and the canned fetus to the hospital ???

Did they stop by the Santorum House??? Cause that might be one hell of a detour!!!

This WHOLE THING IS ONE HELL OF A DETOUR!!!

Was this before/after/at the same time the family all had cocktails after the miscarrying of one of their children?

And BTW...

WTF ???

:wtf::puke::wtf:

:smoke:

1. it's really sickening, what a bizarre family
sounds like part of a script from a horror movie.

3. nobody has speculated publicly whether the fetus was W's baby.
I'm sorry. That's really gross. But someone had to ask.

4. I don't understand where someone did something wrong?

She had a miscarriage while her husband was out of town and needed to get to the hospital. What would you tell your mother if she had a miscarriage? My god, if my mom had one, I am getting her to the fucking hospital. It was an emergency, it's not like she kept it at the kitchen table.
http://abcnews.go.com/Health/MindMoodNews/barbara-bush-miscarriage-george-bush-memoir-viral-reaction/story?id=12101996&page=2

"In fact, there is nothing weird about the practice. The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists in their 2010 patient education pamphlet recommends:

"If you have heavy bleeding and think you have passed fetal tissue, place it in a clean container and take it to the doctor for inspection. Your doctor will want to examine you."
...
"There was an urgency in her voice. She told me to drive her to the hospital immediately. I asked her what was wrong, She said she would tell me in the car."

I feel for people who suffer miscarriages, I really don't give a shit about political affiliations when it comes to this awful subject.

6. Not all people are as mentally strong as you would like them to be
I would like to know what W. Bush's actual age was when this happened, but a miscarriage is an awful experience. I don't think she expected to push out her dead baby that day. Her husband was out of town, I assume there was a whole lot of blood, I can't imagine what mental state she was in. Most women would be, and are, broken by it.

7. I just remember her being so very sad and weepy
and also knowing she needed me to be strong for her. I looked at the fetus, but was not repulsed. I put it in a brown paper bag, and helped her to the car. it would have been her 8th child.

12. I also fail to see anything wrong with this story, aside from possibly
driving under age.

Maybe Babs should have called for an ambulance instead?

But aside from that, I completely agree with you.

People who have not experienced a miscarriage can shut their judgmental pie-holes on this one.

13. Ok... I'll Defer To You, But...
My mom had 5 miscarriages, and she never heard of such a thing.

She was told by a doctor that she was a "habitual aborter" and probably could not really have kids.

She had 4... me, and my three sisters.

Is this a cultural/religious/medical era type of thing???

And the only reason I posted this, was the shock of hearing about it, and the look on Martha Raddatz's face as she repeated the story on PBS's This Week with Gwenn Ifill.

Did not mean to offend.

14. I apologize, I was a bit harsh. I had a miscarriage in May, and am
still not "over it". In fact, my "due date" is coming soon and I find the loss even more painful as it approaches. I shouldn't take my issues out on others, though.

I will say this much, I'm not entirely sure GWB should have put the episode in the book. I certainly hope he at least got his mother's permission before he did.

How people react to a miscarriage is probably a combination of the factors you mention: culture, their religious beliefs, and whatever medical advice they receive from their OB. And of course, it is an individual thing as well. Each person has a different emotional response to what is an intensly personal and painful loss, and a potentially dangerous medical crisis.

I did some research on the subject, once it became personal to me, and the medical community does NOT have a standard procedure. Some OBs basically tell the woman to just handle it on their own and only call them if they start gushing gallons of blood. I'm happy to say that my doctor was much more caring than that and kept close tabs on me from the moment I started spotting. The examining of fetal tissue can be important for a few different reasons. The most important being the confirmation that the abortion (medical term) is complete, and there is no tissue remaining in the uterus. If a woman has multiple miscarriages, examining the tissue can sometimes lead to clues as to why it keeps happening.

Anyway, this is more than you and the world needs to know about me, but I felt I owed you a bit of an explanation for my harsh words earlier.

15. You Owe Me Nothing, And I'm Sorry Too...
I had absolutely no idea that this ever happens/happened.

I hope the very best for you, and my mom would say... "Hang in there. And don't let anybody keep you from trying again."

18. !!!
 You're in my thoughts. My first son was 7 weeks pre-term, I had a miscarriage after him and another pregnancy in the 23rd week when I was hospitalized for approx. a week taking those nasty labor stopping drugs and I had a boy too premature to survive.

Those dates haunted me for a long time...another  and another  Not comforting to you right now, but it will get better. Take care of yourself.

17. Don't you know how deranged
a mother would be to show this to her child? Also, the products of conception are almost unrecognizable unless prepared or the fetal age is late.

9. It isn't her miscarriage that bothers me. The fact she showed it to him, even momentarily.

10. This One The Bastard Sorta Deserves A Pass...
It was discussed on Bill Mahrer last night. It's not like Babs did a Santorum and brought the fetus home, set a place at the table for it or kept it next to the spices in a Ball jar. The miscarriage happened at home and she wrapped it up and dim son was there to witness...something that I think would be traumatic for any young person to see...and something that could affect their attitudes.

There's plenty of other shit in this war criminal's attempts to revise history to pull apart.
