Buffalo, NY has by far America's Stupidest Democrats.
I apologize to DUers from Buffalo, but how the fuck can a Democratic city be stupid to elect fucking Carl Paladino even though he's a hometown guy. You'd think Cuomo had won Buffalo by even more than Spitzer did because people would recoil in disgust from the shame he brought to your city.

Just because he's from the same place as you doesn't mean you have to fucking vote for him. Tennessee chose Bush over Gore, though in that instance voting against the hometown boy was obviously the moronic decision.

1. "by far"??? Those sound like fighting words and I bet many people could respond with an emphatic
"oh, no, the Democrats from _________________ are far stupider."

17. You're right...I forgot the Alabama State Democratic Party
Edited on Mon Nov-15-10 07:36 PM by BolivarianHero
In 1998, the Democratic-controlled legislature voted to ban the sale of sex toys at the behest of a crusading fundamentalist preacher who also happens to be the same stupid halfwit who delivers the opening prayer for each session of the state legislature.

9. Unfortunately, yes.
Erie County as a whole is about 5 to 3 Democratic. It voted for Paladino by about 3 to 2. But people ticket split, because Senators Schumer and Gillibrand both won that county 2 to 1. So a lot of people went into the booth and voted for Carl Paladino for governor, in order to get rid of the queers and put the welfare queens in prison, then voted for the pro-gay-marriage, pro-single-payer Senator Gillibrand, and the head of the DSCC, Schumer.

Yep. Fucking insane.

13. What was the city-suburbs breakdown, do you know?
Kind of throws me (South Buffalo born and raised) that Paladino did well in WNY, though the comment here about Buffalonians' loyalty to the city rings true.

And then we can't forget Mayor Jimmy Griffin, another several years of WTF.

15. Afraid I don't. The Erie County BOE only posts total numbers.
But you can bet that it was pretty bad across the county. Actually I'm pleased it wasn't worse: if Paladino hadn't melted down late in the campaign, it could have been 2 to 1 or more.

4. I've wondered much the same thing...
I'm from NY and felt pretty embarrassed that we had an actual candidate for governor that was so offensive, outrageous and just plain crazy that he became a national laughingstock... But I've had discussions on this board in which I was told that he had a lot of support in Western NY (I'm in the NE ;) ). My question was how and why?! Even if this guy was my next door neighbor (God forbid! :scared:), I sure wouldn't vote for him! Makes no sense to me... He's offensive, crazy and mean... x(

5. Well...according to the NY Times...
He's a really great hugger. We both know that wimpy touchy-feely liberals love hugs, want to see only the best in people and hate conflict. :freak:

10. Would you let Carl Paladino hug you?!
Yikes! I feel scared at just the thought of encountering him in person... He actually made a campaign appearance just up the road from here. I passed on the privilege of attending... :scared:

12. The world may never know...
I couldn't bring myself to vote for someone who sends racist E-Mails about the President, makes offensive remarks, has nutty ideas, and finds rape and bestiality funny just because he lives in the same county as me.

16. I know! It's insane...
I first heard of Carl Paladino when I got a political poll call, early on. They named all of the candidates, and managed to slip his name in, but I'd never heard of him. When they said he was a Republican I said I wouldn't vote for him. When they told me he'd been accused of racism (little did I know x(), I said that I really, really wouldn't vote for him. So I looked him up on-line and learned that there was ont one of his positions on any issue that I could support. But I still had no idea... He wasn't just wrong on the issues, he's an offensive, scary nut job, as well! :wow: x(

14. There was a Republican in my district who made Christie look like a moderate
and how the fuck 44% of a district gerrymandered for a Democrat voted for her is beyond me. I am SOOO GLAD that she went down.

8. Eh, Cuomo still got 38% of the vote here in Buffalo against a hometown candidate
I won't get into anything snarky on you insulting the intelligence of the people who live here, but one overriding factor you need to understand is that Western New Yorkers are intensely loyal to Western New York--this goes for everything from food to teams to "moving back home" to wanting more WNY influence on state government. I'm extremely happy that Cuomo's Lt. Governor is a Rochester guy, and I am hoping it translates into more economic action upstate.
