HuffPo: Child Abuse Rate At Zero Percent In Lesbian Households, New Report Finds
Los Angeles, CA -- The Williams Institute, a research center on sexual orientation law and public policy at UCLA School of Law, has announced new findings from the U.S. National Longitudinal Lesbian Family Study (NLLFS), the longest-running study ever conducted on American lesbian families (now in its 24th year). In an article published today in the Archives of Sexual Behavior, the 17-year-old daughters and sons of lesbian mothers were asked about sexual abuse, sexual orientation, and sexual behavior.

The paper found that none of the 78 NLLFS adolescents reports having ever been physically or sexually abused by a parent or other caregiver. This contrasts with 26 percent of American adolescents who report parent or caregiver physical abuse and 8.3 percent who report sexual abuse.

1. No demographic group REALLY has ZERO abuse. They need a bigger sample pool.
In any case, these results are encouraging, because it looks like lesbian households have A LOT LESS abuse than "regular" households.

3. I agree
I am a CPS worker, and I winced a little at that "zero." The only demographic with zero child abuse is people with no access to children.

8. My sister's boyfriend was physically abused by his mother's female partner
The relationship ended after a few years. The partner ended up abandoning her own daughter, which my sister's boyfriend's mother ended up adopting. I have no doubt that the partner's behavior is much rarer than women in relationships with men, but it can happen.

4. there was zero physical/sexual abuse in my house
my mom didn't even raise a hand to us. she was strict and a little nuts sometimes, but she also has two of three well-adjusted, normal daughters (my middle sister is off the ranch).
