Debt Collector Threatens To dig up woman's daughter, hang her from tree, kill her dog, etc

(KMOV) -- A Belleville woman contacted News 4 after she started receiving vulgar phone calls from a California debt collector.

Tammy Henshaw's daughter Angie died last May, she says she was unable to pay the funeral home $5,000 for the casket, the service, and use of the parlor. The funeral home entered a contract with Rumson, Bolling and Associates in California to collect Tammy's debt.

"They told me they were going to dig my daughter up and hang her from a tree," if she didn't pay the debt according to Henshaw. Henshaw says the calls came from the 818 area code, the debt collector confirms the phone number belongs to them.

Henshaw provided News 4 with a copy of the conversations she recorded. On the tape you hear a male voice making threats, you also hear the caller tell Henshaw she is "white trash." The caller goes on to say he's going to kill her dog and eat the animal, he also says he's going to send the sheriff to her home and have her arrested. Henshaw says the calls have caused emotional anguish, and she's even checked her daughters grave to make sure it remains undisturbed.

i am speechless. i just want to hug this poor woman. if my daughter's father hadn't had the means or hadn't been around, i could have been her. omigawd. i hope charges can be filed, and if i had her email address i'd send her the name of my lawyer.

8. Many families have this problem

I know a family that cannot afford a grave for their granddaughter. She's currently in the grandmother's grave (grandmother is still alive), but will have to be removed at some point. Her name is made with adhesive vinyl letters on the stone. I hope they can give her her own grave before the grandmother dies, and they have no place to put her.

I just won a $2500 verdict against a debt collector (they couldn't prove the debt and their main lawyer on the case was disbarred during the proceedings). Assholes.

7. My wife hates it

but I do not want anything to do with the funeral home. They are vultures. I prefer to donate my body to the medical school.

I have planned for a small memorial in our church. I will not have my body displayed like a turkey on Thanksgiving. I am pretty sure my daughters are on board with this plan. I would prefer to see the $10K or more go to them or my grandchildren's education.

I told my wife to donate a bench on the bike trail if she needs a physical memorial location. That is where I love to be in life, and in death I really will not care.

In times of trouble, people do horrible things. Many hugs to this woman on the loss of her daughter. Hope there is some healing in this.
