Those wanting to cut government down to a teeny size seem to think it will come without pain - just cut those welfare leeches off. What are things we might have to give up in order to have a tiny government? I am starting a list. Feel free to add your own.

1. Just a suggestion

Might be a good idea to separate what government. State, Local, Federal.

To give credit where it's due.

Maybe we should start with federal.

3. There's a good bit of overlap...fed, state and local monies

But I will add one that is on state level...professional license boards, esp for doctors, nurses, dentists, pharmacists, etc. Lots of them out there.

4. Drug research and development.

Many of the top drugs used to treat diseases such as cancer, AIDS, Alzheimer's were developed through federally-funded research.
