'Park Like an A**hole'? Website Is Watching You
http://abcnews.go.com/Technology/park-ahole-website-watching/story?id=12122207

Maybe you're the person who takes up two parking spaces so the precious Volvo won't get dinged. Or perhaps you're the "I'll just be in for a minute" driver who takes up a handicapped spot.

Possibly you're even the person who squeezes in so tight to the next car that the other person's only hope for getting in to their own vehicle is shimmying through the back hatch.

"It's like, 'Really?'" said Andy, creator of youparklikeana**hole.com. "'You're in your own little world here?'"

He now gets 1,000 visitors a day and photos from around the world. One man even wrote to ask his permission to translate the entire site into Portuguese -- then went ahead with it even when Andy hadn't responded yet.

The site also features a photo gallery of some laughably bad parking jobs. Well, laughable for anyone not trying to park their cars nearby.

1. It'd be hard to get this into pictorial form
but my most recent observation of assholish parking occurred last week. A woman parked her Caddy in the fire lane at a local strip mall adjacent to the Curves fitness center to exercise for 20 minutes. The irony of saving a few steps prior to raising her cardio rate is obviously lost on her. I hope her overdeveloped sense of entitlement soon catches up with her!

2. It's a sad reality that many people in our society have to be shamed into acting like decent human
beings.

I say publish their home addresses too.

19. What's really sad is that even shame doesn't do it.
Repeated fines don't work with some people.

4. I left a note on someone's windshield once.
"3 spaces for such an itty bitty car-I hope you can stay in one lane when you drive"
It was an older Honda CVC.

16. I get bitched at for using car spaces with my motorcycle

What people do not know is that if MCs park in partial spots, lined areas, or even share space, we often get ticketed.

28. MC, I don't mind
have a complete understanding and consider them a car when parking. (I don't own one and never did).

5. My moron teabagger brother-in-law used to own an old
Ford pickup that had a body that looked like rusty lace. He always parked straddling two parking spaces - "To keep assholes from denting my truck."

Did I say he is a moron? If not: He is a moron.

6. I've lost count of how many times people have used fake stickers to steal handicapped parking
We're in a college town, and several of the students who lived in the buildings around us were using expired, out of state handicapped hang tags to park in the very few spots available to those of us with legitimate physical problems. One of them even tried to bribe the tow truck guy, because his car was already on the truck.

It's amazing how many people have no problems with stealing the few perks the handicapped have had to fight hard for.

7. On the flip side...
Once or twice I year I have to borrow a relatives car when mine is the shop and when I do I always park in no-mans-land, correctly, but far away from anyone else. Invariably when I come out I am surrounded by vehicles. I always wondered what the psychological reasons were for that.

(Come to think of it it happens in grocery stores. You are all yourself looking for a new brand of canned yak and the correct coupon and all of sudden nobody can get through because four other people are standing next to you doing the same thing.)

10. have you ever noticed...
the same thing often happens on the beach too...

thousands of feet of nice sandy beach virtually empty...you set your blanket down far away from anyone else's blanket and along comes someone who sets theirs down right next to yours.

WTF??????

21. It happened to me today at Walgreens...
The parking lot was pretty empty - Bronco football game in progress. But I still parked far away from the front door. I spent 10 minutes in the store. By the time I walked out my car was surrounded.

I remembered this thread and your reply and it made me lol. :D

8. I don't have much of a problem if you park across two stalls
IF you do it in the back of the lot. If you do it in the front, then you are definitely an arsehole.

9. Part of the problem, IMO, with parking is that...
...the spaces put cars too close together. Door dings happen all the time becasue of this and, also, because a lot of people simply do not give a damn about someone else's property.

I try to park in places where no one can door ding my car. It's next to impossible even with the fact that I have a handicapped plaque.

11. Could have used one of those yesterday
when Mr P and I went shopping. He has a handicapped plaque and we were able to get our favorite spot. As we were getting ready to leave, some younger guy took the handicapped spot next to ours...no plaque...and then, instead of going into the market, he walked over to the church next door for some Candy Cane Festival thing going on there.

Asshat...

I live in Red Country and I'm sure there must be some correlation here.
I think I'll be a frequent contributor to this site.

13. At our local strip mall
I've twice seen cars, with small children in car seats inside, parked in fire lanes. I went into the store to look for the mother. I should have called the police.

14. Oooh I have some photos for them!
I have an hcap permit and drive a tiny car. Usually this means I can get a space with a buffer zone, but there's on place where someone invariably tries to park their in the same spot as mine (and no permit).

17. MANY years back, I got a rather funny notice like that - Mickey Mouse flipping the bird.
The text was "Next time, leave a fucking can opener so I can get out! Asshole!" And yes, it was Mickey Mouse flipping the bird. It had obviously seen many generations of photocopying and hopefully I still have it somewhere.

Now, to be fair, it wasn't my fault that I parked like an asshole. When we arrived at the Chuck-E-Cheese in Manchester, NH, there was snow all over the place. You couldn't have figured out where the lines were without a plow running ahead of you. I pulled my 20' Colony Park wagon ("The Enterprise") into what looked like a space between other cars. We were there a long time. By the time we got the kids out of the ball tank and headed for the car, the snow had melted. I was somewhere in the middle of a row with cars sort of wedged in randomly around me but actually pretty close to in the lines. It took a while to maneuver the starship out of that predicament, but the little note on the window was funny and that lightened my mood.

26. Oh noes you must live in a rural area
Ten fuck wad 20 somethings who have "pimped out" hondas with plywood spoilers; take up all the the parking spots left when they park across lines, so no one can scratch their "bitchin rides".

23. I will park right next to someone so they can't get in if they are to close to "my" spot
they should have parked in the center of their spot IMO. I assume they are able to climb in the other side and slide over, since they must have extra room over there.
