Suppose the drumbeat continues, the propaganda intensifies, and we lose the White House in 2012?
Suppose the Nation actually elects a Sarah Palin, Tim Pawlenty or even Crass Christie because he 'tamed' the hated NJ.

Then what?

2. I think you're being premature. We keep hearing that Reagan was more unpopular
during the first midterm than Obama, and look how he turned that around.

Rather than ditching Obama, we need to focus on doing what we can to help him get reelected in '12.

6. It won't happen because Obama will STAND STRONG against the Republicans!
People don't want a middle-man for President, they want an EXECUTIVE that gets things DONE.

Obama's gonna make this Congress do what HE wants. He'll have the Republican congress jumping through flaming hoops like Bush did with the Pelosi congress after the 2006 election and the people gave them a strong, clear mandate to get the fuck out of Iraq.

In spite of the 2006 election, however, Bush got his Iraq surge and he had Congress spinning around so much he got to have the financial collapse happen without hardly a peep from Congress until it was far too late.

Pelosi's only talking point was about getting a veto proof majority. Congress approved every penny of military spending even after money sent in CONTAINERS simply went missing. What George wanted, he got, with icing on it.

But now, Obama is gonna do the same thing only to our side!

The first part was his clever plan losing the election as he did. What a genius! Some people might have thought we'd try to GAIN seats, esp in the Senate, but lose the congress, give the Republicans just enough rope to hang themselves and then... Well, I simply can't think that far ahead!

You'll see! We're talking revisiting the health care bill and adding the public option or maybe even single payer!

all of the above was in :sarcasm:

16. yeah but, I don't deserve it -
All I did was keep my nose clean all my life, work hard and vote democratic.

Never voted for a wingnut in my life.

Obama needs to quit the bipartisan shit, grow a backbone and stand up for his base. Otherwise, we have noone to vote for in 2012.

15. If that happens, I will decide that the majority of the nation is terminally brainwashed
and I will do one of two things--

1. Find a low cost of living country in South America or Southeast Asia and move there. I'm self-employed with no dependents, and I'm good at languages. This would be feasible for me. Part of me says that the American people are going to have to learn about generosity, community, and critical thinking the hard way and that arguing against the incredible jingoism and pride in ignorance that I see all around me is useless.

2. If it is not feasible, I would concentrate on making my local area as livable and humane as possible.

20. I think Jeb Bush is more likely to win...I don't know if Obama could win against him even now.
Christie is also a real likely candidate, maybe someone like Pat Toomey or Rand Paul as VP...

I see the Democrats in Congress reduced to such a tiny minority that they are not even a bump in the republican's road. Probably many from the Liberal Caucus will remain, with fewer moderates and Blue Dogs surviving 2012.

Since the "Democratic" party in Washington now feels the center is the place for them to be, despite their hideous loss a few weeks ago, I see little support from either the left or the right for the "Democratic" Party as it exists now.
This is very telling - a few months ago, I was nearly certain the GOP was on its last legs and would engage in a near fatal feud with the 'baggers...Now it seems the "Democrats" in Washington have thrown away every advantage they had, and may be alienating even more people who traditionally vote Democratic.

I know many can't accept that so many people would be stupid enough to vote for a republican president, but remember, many liberals thought Reagan would never be elected, and for the same reason...

22. I want nothing more than for our President to see the light and start fighting
Edited on Sat Nov-13-10 09:42 PM by DainBramaged
I'm going back, way back in the wayback machine to 2001 when I called into Slob Hanninazi's afternoon radio show. He said two things that have stuck. One that the President may be disrespected, but don't disrespect the OFFICE of the President.

Lying fuck. He disrespected the Office AND the President and even Black American the day Obama was elected.

Two, the Republicans wage war against us. That has stuck with me most of all through the years. Let that sink in. The Republicans fight us as if they are at war, every second of every day. We the Liberal and Independent majorities in this Country, are their enemies. They don't give a flying flaming fuck through a rolling flaming donut about the poor, the sick, deficits, no public policies period. All they care about is wealth and defeating the Left.Listen to FAUX from morning till night Monday and you'll understand.

Once you grasp that concept, you can better understand why they act the way they do. We on the Left who love our Mothers and care about our neighbors are canon fodder and consumers for these scumbags.

That being said, Crass Christie is a real threat, because EVERYONE outside of NJ hates NJ, and if he can show, even falsely that he has stopped the bleeding in our budgets, he's viable, and God help us. Now, knowing what I know about NJ, after we get done with him for killing the tunnel project, being forced to repay the Government over $250 MILLION that has been spent in preparation, and pissed off the teachers, Unions, public servants, another Puke getting elected in NJ isn't happening for the rest of my lifetime.

Rant over go in peace.......

21. Never Happen
In two years, not only will people see the utter failure that putting Republicans back in charge has been (it will be the shortest "resurgence" in history--that tends to happen when you have no ideas other than just opposing Democrats), but each and every one of the Republican whackos that will be running for the nomination will scare the pants off of 90% of the voters in this country.

This reminds me a lot of 1994, when Republicans re-took Congress and everyone was certain that Clinton would be one-term President. Then the Republicans nominated Bob Dole and the ass-beating ensued. The only difference is that in 2012, the Republicans will nominate someone that will make Bob Dole look downright cuddly.

Trust me, Obama is a LOCK to win a second term. And he'll do it EASILY. He may win by an even bigger margin than he did in 2008.

24. We won't lose the White House in 2012.
Mainly because Obama won't be the nominee, the Republicans have nothing to offer, the few people who happen to vote will vote Democrat, and the portion of the media controlled by the intelligence community considers it in its best interest to keep Democrats in power, not Republicans.

The coming Democratic "victory" in '12 is nothing to be proud of, but it's there.

26. Depends on what you mean by "we."
What is undoubtedly true is that "we" Democrats are going to be bought by the flood of secret corporate money that has thoroughly corrupted the GOP. It could be that in the next few election cycles the usual swings of the pendulum will occur between Democratic and Republican control, but that fewer and fewer Dems are distinguishable from their opponents.

I think that's how the drumbeat you mentioned is already manifesting.

What happens in this nation will be decided in the streets, neighborhoods and where we work (if we have job).

That's always been the case whenever major changes have happened.
