Poll question: Moving to the Center Means, Moving Left?
I suggest that todays policies are so far right, that if any party that wants to move to the center, the reality is that they would have to move left.

3. True, although many seem to feel that they ARE at the center
of the universe. It's a common enough fallacy on political discussion forums.

9. the reference point are our current political policies (past 30 years)
which are overwhelmingly pro corporate, and have tended to be even more so in the last decade.

but lets take just two recent issues as an example...

1. the massive financial fraud, enabled by the removal of regulations, with no one being held to account as of yet by either dem admins or reTHUG

2. no jobs programs, yet encouragement of more off-shoring at the expensive of domestic industry and jobs.

but the list is long, and in my mind, when looking at what Americans are in favor of according to the polls, to enact any of that (e.g. strengthening and increasing SS and Medicaid, Increasing Jobs, Taxing the rich, etc.) would require moving left, vs what the debt commission leaders are proposing.

10. Everybody likes to claim the center
but face a few facts: the center wanted a public option for health insurance; the center wanted us out of wars; the center wants higher taxes on the rich, much higher.

All of those are now considered far left by the power elite.

Where is the center? It's left of where most people think it is.

4. I think your poll needs a "D'Uh" option....
:)

When Republicans lose, they move right.

When Democrats lose, they move right.

What's wrong with this picture?
