(Reuters) - Indian delegation launched a stinging attack against China's quarantine authorities on Saturday for refusing to clear their horses to compete at the Guangzhou Asian Games.
The Indian equestrian federation had planned to bring eight horses to the events starting in the southern Chinese city on Sunday, but said in a statement that they had been stonewalled by the quarantine body AQSIQ over a failed veterinary test.
"Indian horses are 'fit' and 'healthy' for participation at 16th Asian Games. It is because of reasons other than the veterinary...and deliberate misinterpretation of lab reports, biased and malicious approach on the part of AQSIQ China that all of the eight Indian horses have not been given permits for entry into Guangzhou," the statement said.

The statement also alleged discrimination, saying the Indian horses had been subjected to tests for 18 different diseases when horses from other regions had required tests for only six.The statement said the three of the Indian horses had failed a test for Venezuelan equine encephalomyelitis (VEE) in the United States, but said a subsequent test had cleared the horses of the disease.
The Chinese had ignored the newer test result, and directions from the International Equestrian Federation (FEI) to clear the horses, it said.
