Fair Game...wow, just wow
The movie brings it all back. The lies in the State of the Union. Condi Rice warning that the smoking gun could be a mushroom cloud. The tubes that the experts knew (as well as DU) knew were not for a weapons, and the manipulation of the media. The VPs office going to the CIA to manipulate intelligence.

The movie made it all more real and inspirational in a way. Joe Wilson is an American hero that spoke truth to power and he and his wife paid a price. At the end of the movie, he is giving a lecture to a college class talking about patriotism. Great movie..

16. Same ehre. I couldn't watch "An Inconvenient Truth" because I knew
it would cause more stress than I could bear. I had to stop reading articles and lookign at pictures about the deep water oil spill for the same reason, and I can't read or look at pictures about polar bears starving or about the bears drowning as they try to find a place to climb out of the water.

I believe that our civilization is like a rabbit shot on the run. It's already dead, but it keeps going for a while in the same direction before it finally falls over. (I got that perfect metaphor from novelist John Barth, BTW, so don't give me credit for it.)

19. that's an excellent metaphor
back when i was a child, friends and myself chased a rabbit all over a hillside shooting it with bb guns. They were the old daisy bb guns that really had no pressure but when that rabbit had enough of our bullshit, it turned and attacked. i'd never heard a rabbit snarl up to that point in my life, i never chased rabbits again.

17. This comment in one review bothers me:
"It takes awhile, but Sean Penn eventually manages to turn Fair Game into a political tract."
Well, duh! As though the whole damned thing wasn't a political ploy on the part of the CheneyBush administration. Pointing out crimes committed by the right is always treated as a no-no.

11. I'm stunned. Seeing it again brings back the disbelief, anger,
and utter frustration I felt during those years.

Very good. Naomi Watts, excellent. We walked out of the theater feeling this should be required viewing in high school civics...if there is such a class any more.
