Glenn Beck: I’m Not Into Child Pornography
Reported by Guest Blogger - November 14, 2010 - Comments (2)

By Aunty Em

This is weirder than the weirdest stuff that’s ever come out of Glenn Beck’s mouth. Something’s up. Something big is coming. What it is I can’t say, but neither can Beck. Either because he doesn’t know, or he knows all too well and is already setting up his alibi. However, Friday (11-12-10) on his Radio Drama Theater, Beck seemingly tried to inoculate himself from what he claimed is a “whole new progressive organization that is now being started to smear and take me out.”

“I thought about this morning as I was saying my prayers this morning, and I was reading Psalms, I thought to myself, ‘I’m glad my children will always know the truth.’ And I thought of all the things they could possibly say—the greatest thing I have going for me is I have no lies in my life. I don’t have lies in my life. I— I— I—I—I’m—I pay my income tax. I—I—I pay my bills. I’m honest in all of my business dealings. I try to be a good guy. I’m not always a good guy. I try to be a good guy. I try to be a good parent. I—I don’t drink; I don’t take drugs. I—uhh—you know—I’m not—I’m not into ch—I’m not even into—I was going to say I’m not into child pornography. I’m not only not into child pornography, I’m not into pornography. I’m not into any of it. I always have someone with me because I know how easy it is to set somebody up. I always have someone with me. Not only a security—at least one—but always another man.”
At this point there’s a few seconds of silliness from his radio cohorts about “rolling dude heavy”, but Beck returns to his theme.

“So, no matter what you read about me—no matter what you read about me, umm, in the coming months, or whenever, that’s fine. I really—I mean—I can’t imagine what they’re gonna—but they have to say something. There has to be something fabricated about me. Has to be! You just can’t let this juggernaut go as we’re changing everything because I’m rolling dude heavy.”

3. That's the problem with convincing an already grandiose personality
that he's getting successful. Paranoia always increases with the grandiosity and behavior gets more and more bizarre.

I think that he's going to have to "take time off for a minor surgery" soon, in a mink liked hospital where all the other rich crazoids go when their families want to keep it all out of the papers. He might get enough medication to keep a lid on the really batshit stuff but keep enough of the crazy to suit Ailes and Murdoch.

26. Sad, but to my reckoning, fairly true
He is extremely dangerous and should never have been allowed such a public venue for the safety of the undereducated who will flock to his ravings, but I know bipolar and I can't help but feel some sympathy. I wouldn't wish such a difficult mental illness on my worst enemy and he doesn't even come close to my worst enemy. He keeps dancing to the edge of the precipice and then back but eventually he won't jump back. The more empowered he feels, the less likely it is that he will stay within the bounds of sanity - he's barely holding on as is.

43. Same here
The only clip I managed to watch all the way through was one of his attempts at communism in pre communist art. He wasn't nearly as nuts then as he is now, more ignorant than crazy.

He's fully crazy now. I agree it's pathetic. His viewers have no excuse, though.

47. Those responsible for giving him the public venue are extremely dangerous
I've never watched or listened to him except for a few snippits on other shows. I find him so disturbing that I usually turn it down. I can understand your sympathy for him, but the people who are letting this continue and inflicting him on the public are reprehensible.

22. Oh that is just too sweet.
My record collection has transitioned into a collection of Youtube clips...like this one :-)

Have to share a quick story with you. Sometime in '72 a buddy stopped over to my apartment and brought a couple of treats. One we smoked (some very excellent Thai stick IIRC)...then he brings out this album still in the wrapper. "Have you heard this?" "No, I know that's Garcia, but who's the other dude?" "That's Merle Saunders." "Cool...lets give her a spin." My roommate had a great sound system for those days, a MacIntosh Amp and 2 pair of Bose 901 speakers. That was my intro to "Live at the Keystone" and Jerry's guitar work on "Harder They Come", "Positively 4th Street" , and "It takes a Lot to Laugh, It Takes a Train to Cry"....will never forget that memory. :-)

Thanks!

Oh yeah,,,and some very wise words from Mr. Cliff that are just as relevant today-

"I'd rather be a free man in my grave than livin' as a puppet or a slave"

50. Haha, I know the feeling. I remember once searching everywhere
from NW Indiana to Milwaukee where I finally found a JG Reflections album in the mid 80's. I had been driving my then boyfriend's car and left it unlocked for five minutes and someone stole his tapes. There was no other way to replace the Reflections tape but to find the album and tape it and god forbid he'd have to go another week without hearing Catfish John, lol. Until I became totally obsessed with politics and trying to change the world, I was obsessed with downloading and burning shows; they were all organized, had the setlists and the checsums and the info with every show. Now, I have no clue where most of them are; they're in piles all over the place and I watch youtube videos and listen to shows at the archive.

Merle was one of the great ones and now I'm going to have to search for those Legion of Mary cd's, I do love those shows!

17. WTF
This is some weird shit. There used to be a word to describe people like this, what was it? Oh yeah, PARANOID. He is a paranoid individual, he desperately needs some therapy of some kind. I still cant believe he has his own show, can you imagine if Keith Olbermann had said something like this? He would be fucking gone, no suspension, no discussion, he would be fired immediately, yet Beck goes on his show and says shit like this on a daily basis and faces no repercussions of any kind.

I wish I had the ability to go on TV and say anything I wanted without fear of any sort of punishment.

but if mental illness were part of the equation, I hope you would think twice. I watch my family members with their private battles with bipolar and then I see this guy, out in front of God and the world, almost at full mania and when full mania comes, it is never fun for anyone.

40. Glenn Beck has a lot of pain...
I certainly wouldn't begrudge someone for having a challenging childhood. It's certainly
not Beck's fault, but it appears that this man is similar to George Bush--former alcoholic
who went dry, but never processed or came out of denial about what fueled the addiction.

Beck admitted that he was an alcoholic and drug addict--using every day for 15 years.

His mother committed suicide by throwing herself off of a boat, and his stepbrother
also committed suicide. His first marriage failed due to his substance abuse. He
has mentioned, many times on his radio program, that he has ADHD.

If someone has a great deal of pain from the past that remains stuck--it can be
utterly lethal--like a ticking time bomb.

This isn't the first time we've read about some neocon with a dysfunctional past, who
seems to project their anger, need for power and sick pathology toward our country.

25. Well, I've known for some time he has bipolar,
and possibly schizophrenia (less likely, but possible). Both of these brain differences can lead to paranoia. It's one of the reasons I feel uncomfortable mocking Glenn Beck - I know he's dangerous and we can't ignore him, but having been in close contact (I have family members) with such mental differences, I just feel a little sick to my stomach watching him dance at the edge of madness. If I could convince myself that he was just a huckster/grifter like Palin, I would have no problem going after him. He's low hanging fruit, but I also think he's a chemically imbalanced low hanging fruit. He still needs to go, but I think he needs professional help.

Somewhere he talked about rehearsals for his show - if there's a rehearsal, does that mean there's a script? It's hard to know how smart or stupid he is without knowing how much of his show is himself or his handlers. Or am I just wearing :tinfoilhat: ?
