Smithsonian HD Channel. Pretty good.

They seem to broadcast in 1080i and the content is up there with public broadcasting in quality programming (IMHO). It's been a little WWII heavy recently but they have been doing the "Apocalypse" series over and over.

3. I had it and canceled it

It was a $7 month option that bundled it with 4 other channels that I couldn't give a shit about. While it's programing was good there simply wasn't enough of it to make it worth the extra money but on the good side if you missed a show, no worries, they repeated it like 300 times during the month.
