Please review my latest editorial dedicated to Kip's nephew...
Edited on Sun Nov-14-10 05:47 PM by w8liftinglady
Kip's nephew's situation reminded me of the dire needs of the wounded and sick in Landstuhl. While not identifying his nephew by name,I hope he knows I spent the day broadcasting the need to support these troops ,too.(in addition to the other things we do)
Please review for spelling, grammar and content..Thanks as always.

I wish I could have been more active in Waxahachie Veterans Day events. Unfortunately,I was supporting my friend. His nephew was severely injured in Afghanistan-the victim of an IED. The Marine's leg was traumatically amputated, and we still don't know his outcome. The Marine was transported to Landstuhl Regional Medical Center in Germany.

There is a project out there that dedicates itself to caring for these military members who become sick, injured or wounded from service in Iraq,Kuwait or Afghanistan.

Landstuhl Hospital Care Project provides support to the Pastoral Services Department at Langstuhl Regional Medical Center in Germany. It also sends donated items to field hospitals in war zones based on needs reported by their patient liaisons.

Many wounded, sick and injured troops arrive in Landstuhl with the hosital robe from the field...and nothing else. The Project provides everything from underwear and personal care items to snacks, games and books. You can learn about specific needs here:

http://www.landstuhlhospitalcareproject.org/HowToHelp.htm

Many civic organizations and churches have held drives for this program. The website has directions on how to do that,as well. Private donations are restricted by military regulations. You may mail any objects allowed on the lists provided. There is also a mail address at the site if you chose to make a monetary donation.

My son spent six months at Landstuhl in 2005. Their patient population hasn't diminished since then...just the opposite. As holidays approach, consider these troops. Do as my sons are doing-sacrifice a present and send the needs of the troops to Landstuhl. Continue to support our troops, especially as they seek medical care for the effects of these wars. Make the holidays a little less dismal.

And..pray for my friend's nephew.

2. Great letter, especially for the upcoming holidays.
I didn't know the update about Kip's nephew, that his leg was amputated. I'm so sorry to hear that.

As for corrections, w8, the word "hospital" in p4, & the word "choose" in p5.

You're a gem for these guys!

4. Well I hope Trey comes home
and is able to recover as much as possible. He deserves it. (as well as the rest, Trey just put a name to the situation)
