Prosecutors nearing end in case against Tom DeLay
DeLay says he 'misspoke'? Is that interchangeable with lying?

Prosecutors nearing end in case against Tom DeLay

Texas prosecutors wrapping up money laundering case against ex-House Majority Leader Tom DeLay

Prosecutors in the Tom DeLay money laundering trial could be close to wrapping up their case against the former U.S. House majority leader.

Testimony in the trial, entering its third week, was to resume on Monday in Austin, with prosecutors saying they may rest their case the following day. DeLay is accused of using his political action committee to illegally funnel $190,000 in corporate funds into Texas legislative races in 2002.

The most dramatic piece of evidence so far was an interview DeLay gave to prosecutors in August 2005, just before he was indicted.

In an audio tape of the interview played for jurors, DeLay is heard saying he knew beforehand about a money swap authorities allege was actually a scheme to "clean" corporate donations and get them to Texas GOP candidates.

DeLay has said he misspoke to prosecutors and didn't know about the transaction until later.

Prosecutors allege DeLay and two associates — John Colyandro and Jim Ellis — illegally channeled the corporate donations collected by DeLay's PAC in Texas through the Washington-based Republican National Committee. Under Texas law, corporate money cannot go directly to political campaigns.

5. So corporate money cannot go directly to political campaigns?
Isn't that what the Supreme Cowards passed? I think it was done so Delay and other criminals like him can get away scott free. Rulings and legislation have happened before to protect corrupt and powerful people.

8. I don't think that is what the Extreme Court ruled..
I don't think corporations are allowed to give to any candidate.. what they are allowed to do though is spend any amount of their money however they like for any political cause as long as they don't give directly to a candidate...They can take out as many attack ads as they wish as long as they don't give the money directly to a candidate.

7. He'll get some sort of guilty verdict, but then it will go into endless appeals
which in the end, will result in him "spent time served" when he was really out on the street scott free.

My only hope is it taps him out financially.

he won't see a day behind bars, especially now that my great state of denial Texas, voted cement head perry back in with a huge majority of repukes in the Texas Congress.
