1. This defect goes back to MS-DOS.
One of the easiest examples to demonstrate how shitty M$ software is. Almost 40 years and they still can't/won't address even these minor faults. They had to buy another OS just to get the M$ logo on something that doesn't crash for no reason at all.

But it's OK, monopolies are really good for America.:eyes:

5. Nope they can't.
Apple's OS market share is insignificant and even that fig leaf wouldn't exist w/o M$ money.

8. did Bill Gates pee in your cheerios?
Having worked on Linux, Macs and Windows, I've seen all three do similar things. For example I once spent an hour and a half watching a Mac say one minute remaining on a data transfer which is just as useless as watching a Windows transfer bounce around and none of the hundreds of upgrades to Snow Leopard I've done have had accurate time trackers either.

And in most issues needing computer repair, regardless of the operating system, the problem occurs between the chair and the computer. If your computer crashes, it's because you did something wrong the overwhelming majority of the time. Outside of a video driver issue due to installing Windows 7 prior to the release date, I can't remember the last time my computer crashed running any version of Windows.

9. Would you like to go to a tech forum and battle this out?
I've been in this longer than you've probably been alive and your assertion that Microshit crapware is typical of all OSes and software is absurd on it's face.

OST, never mind, why waste the effort.

12. Yeah, I hate it when I do that.
Believe it or not, I'm actually much better at letting these things go than I used to be.

We only had about 5 years of Nerdvana before the monkeys moved in.
:(

6. One of the greatest xkcd moments ever.
Best wishes to xkcd's creator, who is dealing with a family illness and not producing this level of brilliance for a short time.
