On Plouffe replacing Axelrod - a step in the right direction?
Plouffe seemed like he was one of those tireless Obama campaign workers who got thrown under the bus by the DLC when it came time to build the new administration. What are your thoughts on him replacing Axelrod?

1. Plouffe is a better big-picture guy, sees the lay of the land.
He is also better at messaging. This could be a good move.

2. How'd the DLC boogeyman get involved. If Obama didn't want him out he wouldn't be gone.

You guys make Obama to be some pitiful creature who only does what he is told

Plouffe is a campaign guy. Campaigning for 2012 has started so he is back now. Makes sense. Not some conspiracy bullshit. Rofl

4. Obama brought the DLC in when he traded most of the advisors...
...who brought him to victory for DLC advisors favored by the Clintons.

3. I did think of him as "thrown under the bus by the DLC" so I hope the...
...change will lead to a clearer, bolder picture of what Obama and Dems mean to voters, as opposed to what Republicans mean.

5. Me too
With the Senate under de facto Republican control and the House firmly in GOP hands, Obama needs all the help he can get.

6. Does Anyone on this Site Ever Use Google? For the Love of God!!!
Plouffe has always been a part of the Obama team, just working outside the WH and working with OFA. He and Axelrod were partners in AKP&D Message and Media. As in AXELROD, Kupper, PLOUFFE and Del Cecato.

Plouffe's wife had a little girl just two days after the election in 2008 and he didn't want to work in the WH after spending 2 long grueling years on the campaign trail. The agreement was always that Axe would go back to Chicago after 2 years to start the re-election campaign and Plouffe would come into the WH.

He was not thrown under the bus by the DLC or the Illuminati or the Lizard People or anybody else...

8. Absolutely.
Axelrod is tired. I don't know... his heart just doesn't seem as into it as it was, even a year ago. I don't know if the threats against him have taken something out of the man, but he just needs to go home and be with his family. I don't think he's giving the President sound advice or being the strong, solid advocate the President needs at this time.

Plouffe is more knowledgable regarding the inner workings of Congress and will bring an energy and strong principled desire to get things done.

13. ya he`s a chicago guy..can`t be away to long.
day to day operations and speaking in public is not what he `s good at. as you said... he`s tired and needs his family right now.

you know that somewhere in the the back of his mind he`s thinking of 2012.

14. He isn't going home to be with his family.
Axelrod is going to Chicago to get the 2012 campaign on the road to winning again.

16. I think he's going to take a breather first.
Get his equilibrium and come back recharged and more energetic.

I honestly think he is burned out right now. This gives him the perfect reason to go back home and relax some.

10. In the end, just another admirer
Obama is surrounded by people who constantly feed him the idea that his only problem is that the people don't understand how brilliant he is.

11. Maybe Plouffe will bring some reality to the WH, since he's been...
...living outside of DC.

12. A little perspective here.
<snip> Plouffe said he has "no set plans yet" but that he will not be going into the White House -- choosing rather to help the president-elect from the outside in "any way I can."

In the near term, Plouffe will have his hands full as his wife -- former California Gov. Gray Davis adviser Olivia Morgan -- gave birth to a baby girl yesterday, the couple's second child.

No bus. His choice to not go to the WH in 08.

<snip> PR.com: Was Rahm Emanuel your pick or your recommendation for White House Chief of Staff?

David Plouffe: Well, it was, but the only recommendation that matters was Barack Obama’s to himself. I certainly thought that Rahm was unique, and that he had a set of skills that no one else had. We were clearly going to be dealing with monumental challenges and I couldn’t think of anybody in his zip code, really, in terms of their ability to do this. He obviously had a leadership position in the Congress, he’s got two kids and this was a very, very selfless thing he did in my opinion. And I think he is doing a remarkable job. I can’t think of anybody else who could be holding up as well as he is with the economy and healthcare and Afghanistan, and he’s just doing a great job.
