Have you heard about "Diversifying for National Security"?
I'm coining the term as a name for my policy proposal which will require any corporation contracting with the Department of Defense to show that they are diversified in such a way that a
cut in work provided by the DOD will not negatively affect their workforce. The policy could probably be done by Presidential proclamation because of the security implications and its suggested that it be done incrementally so as to not cause the Creationists to get too upset. For example, in the first year, Corporations would be required to have at least 10% of their revenue come from sources other than the DOD. The second year, 20% etc. until a 50% requirement is met. The purpose of this policy would be to remove the argument that cuts in the Military budget would affect so many people with job losses.

Hey, I'm trying to be positive here and come up some solutions to our problems which include an out of control Military/Industrial Complex.

On NPR today there was a discussion of cutting the military budget and not one person during the hour suggested that maybe we don't need to be spending any more than in 1939 as we don't have any enemies save a group of radicals that would not be able to get to the US without our providing them with transportation.

1. All that means is that defense contractors will buy other business
And even then defense cuts would mean less jobs. The basic accounting can not be fooled.
