Spears didn't want to leave the front porch of the home as smoke and flames shot from structure as firefighters arrived, 6News' Rick Hightower reported.

"I went through the house and looked at our old bedroom," Owen said. "My brother had passed away. She had pictures of him, and all his pictures are gone. Everything is gone," Owen said.

Another of Spears' daughters, Tammie Groce, broke down as she explained that her mother had given up her homeowner's insurance because of economic difficulties.

"To keep her health insurance, she had to give up here home insurance, and she's on too many medical things to take her health insurance from her," Tammie Groce said."
