Take a look at our state Senate now:

Need to pick up our efforts in Boone county, St. Joe, etc. At least pick up 5 and the big margins in KC and STLC might push you over the top.

1. what is Senate seat 30?
It seems to be pretty densely populated but no corresponding blue even on McCaskel's map.

2. Springfield MO, still conservative area but a bit more progressive than other counties in SWMO

4. The fact that you're stating that Springfield is a bit more progressive is a sad, sad statement
On many levels.

Springfield is headquarters of Assembly of God, home of Falwell's alma mater, and frankly (no insult to progressives currently living there, I did too at one time) batshit crazy insane right wing. But you're correct it is a bit, emphasis on the bit, more progressive than its surrounding environs like Joplin, Bolivar and Branson.

At one time Columbia was a bastion of liberals, but even that's gone, due to an influx of new people over the past twenty years, many of them from. . .Springfield:banghead:

6. I'm sorry, flee, quickly, that's my best advice
I lived in Springfield for four years in the eighties, it was a nightmare. The trouble is, the economics of Springfield suck people in and doesn't let them go. I wanted to get the hell out of there after the first month I was there but got stuck for four years because the economics of the town makes saving, getting ahead, anything like that tough as hell.

I live up in Mid Mo now, but still go to Springfield now and again, and it just amazes me every time. The politics, the culture doesn't change, just the size of the place. Trouble is, while the city is expanding, the interior becomes ever more hollowed out. Commercial St. used to be an excellent place to go pick up good deals on antiques and such, but that's just gone now, last time I was there a lot of it was empty, boarded up.

There is sanity, culture and intelligence in Springfield, but it is hard to come by.

Good luck, get out as soon as you can.

9. I have never in my life seen so many mega churches
Springfield is overflowing with them. Also here in southern Overland Park, KS. And it is as red as red can get. Ultra conservative.

7. You'd think Platte and Clay Counties wouldn't suck so hard...
Platte is home to Park College, one if the first colleges to encourage a multi-racial and ethnic student body.

8. Election results in NKC were horrible
Just saw the numbers the other day. (Clay and Platte counties)

Robin lost there BADLY. Also in suburban eastern Jackson County.

Very concerned about vote on Earnings Tax in April. That could be a disaster. :scared:
