RNC Political Director Quits

RNC political director Gentry Collins resigned from his post "with a stinging indictment of Chairman Michael Steele's two-year tenure at the committee," Politico reports.

In a four-page letter to Steele and the RNC's executive committee, Collins "lays out inside details, previously only whispered, about the disorganization that plagues the party. He asserts that the RNC's financial shortcomings limited GOP gains this year and reveals that the committee is deeply in debt entering the 2012 presidential election cycle."

1. Ah, don't worry -- Rove/Crossroads to the Rescue in terms of money
But yeah, they are in a mess. A lot of finger pointing at Steele. A lot of infighting to come with the extreme ideologues.

2. there's been a diversion of funds away from the RNC, a lot because of Steele
. . . lots of cash coming from outside of that organization to republican candidates, though.

3. Oh yeah, real rough
They control the majority of statehouses, majority of governorships, the House, effectively the Senate and the Supreme court. They are just about ready to collapse!

5. Repugs need to can Steeley Mike. Replace him with Clarence Thomas
Edited on Tue Nov-16-10 02:10 PM by SpiralHawk
Enuf of Steely Mike's credit card partying down with fauz lesbian rentboy cocktail club B & D hijunks and stuff. The G.O.P. needs one of their old fashioned Pilars of Republicon Family Values: Clarence 'Coke Can' Thomas.' That kind of move would show the world a thing or two about Republicon integritude.

6. There's a story to be written, Will.
One thing I'm quite curious about is how many voting Republicans, in the bottom 95%, actually contribute to the RNC. We know the big money that came into the 2010 election for Republican candidates were from a few high rollers that contributed millions...but is there any data on what the little guy voters contributed? If the RNC can't get their base to put their money where their vote is....how long can they sustain this kind of organization? Maybe they'll do away with the RNC altogether and any pretense of being a political Party and just rely on the Koch brothers to fund their operation in 2012. Seems like the Republican majority on SCOTUS recognized this problem and started the process with their Citizens United ruling.
