My experience at THE PEOPLE'S RESPONSE to the George W. Bush Library & Policy Institute
Edited on Tue Nov-16-10 02:46 PM by w8liftinglady
It was a very profound display of the true difference between "Us" and "Them".
The childish name-calling by the Bush supporters did little except to enhance the message...This is a War Criminal.

Col. Ann Wright - US Army, (29 years); Foreign Service Officer, Department of State (16 years)
Excellent speech on how we have destroyed their...and our...countries...while lying all the way to the bank.

Hadi Jawad - activist, organizer, and former Dallas Peace Center Peacemaker of the Year
Organizer-great motivator

Medea Benjamin - author, activist, and co-founder of Global Exchange and Code Pink Women for Peace
Another fantastic,motivating speech

Coleen Rowley - former FBI Special Agent and Legal Counsel, TIME Person of the Year
Gave a fantastic speech on war crimes...despite having laryngitis

Ray McGovern - US Army Intelligence Officer, Directorate of Intelligence, CIA (30 years)
magnificent speech on the need to hold this administration responsible for war crimes

Cindy Sheehan...mother of an Iraq -war soldier who was killed, who has set the model for activism that we all should show...another great speech on our need to remain strong, outspoken

Large number of veterans for peace...including their past president(I missed his name)...another great speech on the crap way we have treated our troops and the Iraq/Afghanistan citizens.

We also had the pleasure of having Rick Vanderslice(who helped me carry a banner),Cindy Freeling..and the head host-Rich Hancock-from Rational Radio Dallas..give them a hand
http://www.rationalradio.org/

The crowds to congratulate Bush were shuttered in via dark buses..it was kind of freaky.
There were a lot of people honking in approval(and a few that-shal we say-disapproved)
I am curious to see what,if anything, the news has to say...they WERE all there taking pictures.

For a chilly Tuesday morning,I was very proud of all who showed up.I was especially proud of those who bore the signs naming the dead.those are the ones forgotten in all of this.

6. I didn't see much in the news about us.
KXAS (Channel 5) said there were 100 protesters, which greatly understated the number of us there. Yes, the dark buses were creepy. It's like the people inside did not want to be identified. I felt good about being there to protest. Let's keep up the good fight and do what's right.

8. Nope. Not in the news at all. Not even on alleged 'liberal' stations.
Nothing at all. Why the coverup? Surely the teabaggers would get covered.

10. because..in reality, many agree with us.they are truly afraid to express opinions here
they may suffer loss of job, loss of friends if they speak out.I know I have few friends outside the "friends" at work.
people are afraid.
the Klan is huge in these states.
the right-wing political machine is huge.
the poor, uneducated masses are huge...but climb on the bus en masse to vote for those who wish to take their rights, their freedoms away...and who don't mind sacrificing their kids' lives for a few bucks.

It is truly reminiscent of the 50's,when the government was sacrificing "The Commies"
