just realized that the Olbermann discredidation march is full steam ahead.
I was listening to Koppel on NPR while coming home.
Then it dawned on me - this is the standard full out right wing blitzkreig to discredit someone. A practice that has been perfected over the years.
What can be expected next? Perhaps a shot from a more 'mainline' NBC news reader like Brian Williams? David Gregory? Maybe it is time for the silver spoon daughters Cheney and McCain to weigh in?

I also bet their will be some behind the scenes grapplin' at MSNBC.

Wouldn't it be nice if Michael Moore and KO and some other lefties decided it was just time to have their own cable news net?

1. It would be nice, but it would be hard to duplicate the quality.
NBC/General Electric provides a lot of resources that just wouldn't be available on a startup network.

2. He's talking about his OPED points vs. Keith's comments last night
or is he trying to convince listeners that Keith is "bad" for Ted's idea of news?

4. If you are referring to what Koppel was saying on NPR
he was debating a journalism professor. Not sure if the debate had a themem as such other than 'damn we did it better than this non-objective people called newsers today.'
Just made me think that this is two shots in 2 weeks:
1) Olbermann bad because he is partisan
2) Olbermann bad because he's ot objective.

What's next? I believe there will be another incident to keep Olbermann's credibility in the news.

3. Thats FUNNY!
To fight against being discredited, you want KO to join up with michael moron and start their own cable news net that would be gone within a year?

14. You are right
I just don't know how you can honestly believe that an opinion talking head like KO could possibly be helped at all by good ol one sided propaganda "reporting" moore. Thats like saying Alex Jones would make O'riely more credible.

If you want a left leaning network, it must be based on facts, not just another lefty network that tells people opinions they want to hear.

Edited on Wed Nov-17-10 10:29 AM by librechik
You all pile on with the namecalling and insinuations and vicious predictions once you perceive a weakness in a public liberal? That's how I take your posts. They couldn't be constructive criticism.

I suppose you want to add Keith's head--and Michael's too-- to the long list of liberal heads you have helped throw in the ditch. You must be so proud as a "progressive."

20. Pile on?
KO is an opinion mouthpiece, NOT the news. People like him or hate him because he says what they want or don't want to hear, not because he reports the actual news. What is going on comes with the territory and to be quite honest, I don't see how it shows any weakness in him. I don't think he is so dumb to not have known people would not want his opinion on the air.

I believe in the first Amendment and am not a hypocrite. I do not want either of their heads and do not call for the heads of the others with opposing views.
I do not care about any of their opinions and cannot stomach their shows, but I have not thrown any liberal, or conservative for that matter, in the ditch because of their opinions. I am not going to help them out of the ditch, but I'm not throwing them into one.

I am a Democrat, NOT a "progressive." I do not have two sets of rules based on which side of the aisle somebody is on.

They both come up with an idea and then shoot and edit film to support that idea.

16. Interesting, I just read an article about character assassination in politics
Edited on Wed Nov-17-10 10:20 AM by OneGrassRoot
by John Perkins, author of "Hoodwinked." In this article in "Tikkun Magazine" he talked about political assassinations, the corporatocracy, etc.

This is a rather strong statement, perhaps inflammatory, but I think there's a lot of truth here. Character assassination is the right-wing's M.O.

President Clinton was severely beaten down during his first term when he tried to reform health care and the educational system. After that, he complied with corporatocracy wishes (most notably when the Telecommunications Act was passed and Glass-Steagall was rescinded). However, as his term drew to a close, it appeared that he might go rogue.

<snip>

By the close of the twentieth century, a new sense of morality pervaded, and Clinton's assassin came in the form of impeachment over the Monica Lewinsky nonsense. Character assassination had become a viable alternative to murder.

The article isn't online or I would link to it.

:)

Do you really believe EVERYONE is out to get "Jesus" Olberman?

Don't get me wrong, I watch Olberman every night. I thoroughly enjoy him handing rightwing loonies their lunch tucked firmly in their collective hats...But he is not all that. He is a commentator. he is not a news reporter. Koppel was commenting that the state has devolved to a right-left shouting match and the country is worse off for it.

You need to take a break, take a deep breath and review the whole episode through a less partisan bias.

Edited on Wed Nov-17-10 11:41 AM by EFerrari
to observe that the right wing has perfected the witch hunt. Dan Rather, ACORN, Shirley Sherrod are examples that should come to mind for you right away.
