Breaking: One Dem Senator endorses middle class tax cut vote

http://voices.washingtonpost.com/plum-line/2010/11/breaking_one_dem_senator_endor.html

Oregon Senator Jeff Merkley, one of a recent crop of relatively young and reform-minded Senate Dems, in a statement sent my way:

"Our nation can't afford failed trickle-down economic policies that favor the wealthiest among us and leave working families behind. I support an up or down vote on middle-class tax cuts and believe that it would be a huge mistake to repeat the Bush giveaways for millionaires and billionaires."

As best as I can determine, he's the only Democratic Senator to publicly throw his weight behind the idea of holding this vote.

3. As a senator,
he can hold up anything thing that falls short of that, right? I mean, a single senator can hold up anything indefinitely, right ? Isn't a big part of why there are 420 bills that passed the house and died in the senate? will we use this ability? don't bank on it.

10. Why the fuck would they not have this vote? It makes absolutely no sense
Edited on Wed Nov-17-10 01:41 PM by no limit
unless of course, Obama and the democratic leaders, are lying about their position on these tax cuts, then it makes perfect sense.

11. When you read Matt Taibbi's excellent Rolling Stone coverage of the
Way that Reid chased down Republicans and threw them support, in his efforts to have the Financial Regulation Bill watered down, while side stepping the very Dems that would have toughened up the Bill, one understands how little separates the more sold out members of the Democratic party from the Republicans.

The phrase "One Big Money Party" makes more sense as every day goes by.
